Rachel Zoe wore the dress at an unveiling party on Wednesday night. At the 2000 Grammy Awards, Lopez wore the original gown. The plunging green leaf-print dress became known as the “jungle dress.”
Lopez was not the first person to wear the famous Versace design. She was not the first to wear it, as three others had worn it prior to her red carpet appearance on the Grammy Awards. That said, Lopez emerged as the most iconic face of the iconic silhouette. The original dress featured a neckline that reached her pelvis and a slit that reached the same point.
Zoe changed several details for her version of the dress. Her skirt looked opaque and did not feature the original slit. Her neckline still dipped deeply but stopped above her navel. Zoe also wore her signature blonde hair in loose waves that fell to her hips.
The Bravo star also wore the green Versace dress in her Hamptons magazine feature. Vintage fashion purveyor Janet Mandell sourced the dress for the shoot. On the cover, Zoe wore layers of John Hardy jewelry while showing off her beach waves.
Zoe also opened up about her usual Hamptons style in the interview. “In the Hamptons, my uniform is caftans all day, every day,” she said. The green Versace gown still fit easily in that setting. Her updated take gave the famous fashion moment a fresh look while keeping its signature green design.
