Prince Harry recalled a phone call with King Charles about Meghan Markle in his memoir, “Spare.” Hello! Magazine mentioned a section in a report ahead of the upcoming royal annual trip to Balmoral Castle. For those unversed, the king visits the estate with his family to enjoy a vacation away from their royal duties. While Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their kids seemed to be regular, Harry stopped visiting long back.
In his book, “Spare,” he penned down a moment when he thought that his father was “nonsensical” and “disrespectful.” He stated that Charles invited the Sussexes to Balmoral when they moved to California. It was reported that Queen Elizabeth II was not doing well at the time. So, Harry seemingly texted his brother “to ask whether he and Kate were flying up.” But the Waleses didn’t respond to him.
While Harry and Markle were trying to figure out their schedule, Charles reportedly called again. “He said I was welcome at Balmoral, but he didn’t want… her. He started to lay out his reason, which was nonsensical and disrespectful, and I wasn’t having it,” the duke mentioned in the book. This move seemed to have enraged him, and he told his father not to “ever speak about my wife that way.”
According to Harry, Charles appeared to be apologetic and clarified that “no other wives were going. Kate wasn’t coming, he said; therefore Meg shouldn’t. Then that’s all you needed to say.”
