Blake Lively honored her late co-stars Hayden Panettiere and Michelle Trachtenberg with a simple message about kindness. On Monday night, Lively shared clips from the Disney movie Ice Princess, which was released in 2005. She expressed her gratitude to both women for bringing happiness to countless lives. Her message came after Panettiere died at 36 on Aug. 16.
Blake Lively urged fans to be kind while honoring Hayden Panettiere and Michelle Trachtenberg
Lively wrote in her Instagram Story, “Be. Kind. You never know what others are going through,” over the Ice Princess footage. She then added, “Thank you to both these women for all the joy you brought so many.”
Trachtenberg and Panettiere appeared together in the 2005 movie. Trachtenberg played Casey Carlyle, who unexpectedly finds a passion for figure skating, while Panettiere played Gen Harwood, who starts as Casey’s rival before the two characters develop a friendship. Kim Cattrall, Joan Cusack and Trevor Blumas also starred in the movie.
Lively later worked with Trachtenberg on Gossip Girl, where Trachtenberg played Georgia Sparks opposite Lively’s Serena van der Woodsen. Trachtenberg passed away in February 2025 at age 39 due to complications of diabetes mellitus. Her death was ruled natural. Lively previously remembered Trachtenberg as a “kind person, through and through” after her death. She also praised the energy Trachtenberg brought into every room.
Panettiere died on Sunday, Aug. 16, at age 36, and her family remembered her as an “incredible light.” Her official cause and manner of death have not yet been confirmed by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Panettiere’s family said she made people happy both personally and through her work. Lively’s tribute now brings both actresses together again through one of their early films.
