Michelle Rodriguez has appeared in several major films throughout her long career, but Fast & Furious, which came during the early days of her career, remains the role fans still recognize her for. Now, the actress has revealed her biggest reservation about joining the franchise.
Michelle Rodriguez reveals how her faith made her early ‘Fast & Furious’ experience a culture shock
Recently, the 48-year-old actress attended the film’s 25th anniversary screening at the Directors’ Village Theater, where she spoke about how moving from an indie film to the set of Fast & Furious was a culture shock and what her approach was.
According to People, Rodriguez said, “I came from a Jehovah’s Witness background at the time. So it’s like none of this really means anything to me. And so you’re dealing with a kid who’s not affected. I’m already playing in the so-called devil’s world in my mind as a 20-year-old, obviously.”
Michelle Rodriguez went on to explain that because of this mindset, there was a possibility that she “could give two s—s” about the movie. However, the fact remained that she was making “more than I was making before.”
During the interview, the Texas-born actress also discussed several other things, including how Vin Diesel played an important role in her casting.
Rodriguez said, “I was just getting introduced to what it is to be an actor in New York, and then I think Vin had seen Girlfight and he really liked the character and wanted that character to be his girlfriend in Fast.”
Michelle Rodriguez expressed several moments on set genuinely brought her joy. She talked about being able to get into a car, learning how to shoot a gun, and even learning how to race cars. The Fast & Furious actress excitedly recalled doing all the things people had not allowed her to do, including breaking windows, acting violently, and all that kind of stuff.
As for her upcoming movie, Fast & Furious 11 will soon feature the American actress in a new installment of the franchise.
