Prince Harry has received a warm welcome from his cousin Lady Eliza Spencer as he and Meghan Markle begin their latest chapter in the UK. Lady Eliza is the daughter of Charles Spencer, Princess Diana’s brother. She is reportedly excited to see the Sussexes again and hopes to spend time with Harry, Meghan and their children.
Prince Harry reportedly has Lady Eliza Spencer eager for Sussex reunion
Lady Eliza Spencer spoke about the Sussexes’ return on Wednesday night while attending the launch of her rosé brand, Lala V, at Knightsbridge drinks retailer Hackstons. Her comments came only hours after Harry and Meghan landed in Birmingham as part of their return to Britain. When asked about their arrival, Lady Eliza responded warmly. “Absolutely, it’s exciting! We would love to be able to find some time to visit,” she told the Mirror.
Harry already has a strong connection to the Spencer side of his family. During their UK visit last month, Harry, Meghan and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, stayed at the Spencer family estate, Althorp. The property belongs to Lady Eliza’s father, Charles Spencer. The Sussexes also visited Princess Diana’s grave during that trip. Harry is very close to his uncle Charles Spencer, making the family estate an important place for him and his children. Lady Eliza was just five when Diana died, but she has stayed close to her late aunt’s family.
Lady Eliza also shares another connection with Meghan: both women are involved in the rosé business. Meghan launched a Napa Valley rosé through her As Ever lifestyle brand last year, while Lady Eliza has created her own wine label, Lala V. When asked if she might share any winemaking tips with Meghan, Lady Eliza jokingly replied, “Maybe!” Lady Eliza attended Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011 and later attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018.
