According to several reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will put down roots in the beautiful Cotswolds. However, not everyone in the charming countryside community seems delighted at the idea of the royal pair moving in next door.
Several locals reportedly voiced their annoyance to the Daily Expresso after a reporter headed to the area to sound out reactions to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s UK return. Discussing it on the podcast on Wednesday, August 26, host JJ Anisiobi revealed that some residents were “already furious.”
He said, “A woman in a coffee shop, who lives in the local area, says: ‘They should be banned. They are a disgrace. I think Meghan is an awful, dreadful woman. It can’t be easy being in the royal family- they’ve got their faults as well, but they’re two-faced in screaming about privacy.'”
Anisiobi shared that another local felt that the Duke had damaged his relationships beyond repair. A different resident voiced a separate worry about how the Sussexes’ presence might affect the area’s well-known tranquillity.
Additionally, royal commentator Caroline Malone suggested that a surge of visitors could become the main point of friction. “People will not want them there because the Cotswolds now is going to be swarming,” she explained.
“And it’s not going to affect Harry and Meghan because they’re going to be behind a gated, big, posh, multi-million-pound house somewhere.” Malone further noted that the move would disrupt local workers and leave them deeply frustrated.
