Meghan Markle’s UK return is expected to be very different this time, with an ex-associate claiming that she’ll now do things her way. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex came back to Britain on Wednesday with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Per the Daily Express, the Sussexes landed at Birmingham Airport on a private jet before making their way to their new non-royal private home. Their UK return comes six years after they left for the US and quit royal duties.
Markle has previously spoken openly about her difficulties in Britain during her time as a working royal. However, a former confidante of the Suits alum feels that things will be more “manageable” for her this time. The reason is that she can now live according to her own preferences, something she lacked as a working royal.
In an interview with Cafe Casino about Harry and Markle’s return, brand and culture expert Nick Ede stated: “I imagine Meghan would approach it with very mixed emotions. Britain was the setting for her wedding and one of the most extraordinary chapters of her life, but it is also associated with intense scrutiny, negative headlines and a period she has described as deeply painful.”
He continued, “She would not be arriving as a new royal expected to learn an unfamiliar system; she would be coming back as an independent woman with her own businesses, profile and boundaries. That could make the experience feel much more manageable.”
Ede wrapped up by noting that the Duchess might never feel completely at ease with the British press. However, a private home and distance from royal duties could let her reconnect with the UK on her own terms.
