Last week news broke that Janelle Brown and Kody Brown‘s son, Garrison Brown, had passed away at the age of 25. Sister Wives viewers were shocked since they had no idea the seventh child of the polygamous patriarch had been struggling. It was reported that Garrison was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The entire family is in mourning as they try their best to pick up the pieces of a shattered life.

The Brown family has had a hard last few years, mainly due to the rule-happy patriarch. Kody was on the outs with his older sons, including Garrison, after a significant feud broke out over the family’s COVID-19 rules. Kody refused to be the bigger man and reach out, leaving his son to feel abandoned. Luckily Janelle had always stepped up to the plate to stand up for her boys. Even when Kody wanted to kick Garrison out of the house, she refused and allowed him to stay. Always being the protectant mother.

Janelle Tries To Heal

It was revealed that the funeral for Garrison had taken place on March 9. However, Janelle shared an Instagram Story a few days later to give her followers a bit of an update. It turns out that after the funeral, she decided to go back to her daughter, Maddie Brown’s home in North Carolina for some much-needed rest. The first photo shows Janelle walking hand in hand with her grandchildren toward the edge of the ocean. The caption read, “Some water and sun therapy…AND GRAND BABIES.”

The second photo pictured a beautiful seascape with her two older grandchildren playing in the waves. The caption read, “Spring break for Kiddos, so we headed to the beach for the day. The weather was beautiful. The water was still chilly, but it didn’t stop Evie or Axel.” Janelle didn’t comment about Garrison’s passing, but it is assumed she was still processing the whole situation as she found comfort with her oldest daughter.

Cat Therapy

However, Janelle posted yet again, noting she “was moved to tears” after she had been told that so many had donated to the cat shelter from which Garrison had adopted. One should never underestimate the kindness of strangers during a hard time, and while showing off her son’s three cats, Janelle wrote, “I’m being told about everyone’s donations to @highcountryhumane @arkcatsanctuary in Garrison’s name. Thank you all for your generosity. It means so much. The cats he adopted from both agencies were so important to him. He loved being a cat dad.”

Janelle then shared a post from the High Country Humane, who decided to honor Garrison in a very special way. The post read, “Today, we remember and celebrate the life of Garrison, a friend and an extraordinary cat lover, whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew him, both two and four-legged. Garrison’s unwavering love for cats was a heartfelt passion.” Thanks to the generosity of strangers, the donations have totaled $13,000, and they have been able to feed and care for 150 cats.

The post ended by saying, “Garrison’s legacy is one of compassion, laughter, and unconditional love. His spirit lives on in every meow, in every cozy lap nap, and in the purring contentment of the cats he adored.”

Filming Time

The US Sun was the first to report that TLC kept filming during the aftermath of the tragic suicide. A family source noted that “The family is normally always filming, whether it’s with actual cameras or on their phones. As sad as it is, Garrison’s unexpected death came during the timeline of filming.” It is still unclear if Kody and Janelle reunited for the funeral, but it can be assumed both of them attended.

Janelle will have her ups and downs as she begins her healing journey. While nothing will ever completely take the pain away, the mother of six can find beauty in each day as she surrounds herself with her close family and friends.
