George Clooney Embraces Gray Hair After Revealing Wife Amal ‘Hated’ Dye Job

Looks like the return of George Clooney‘s signature gray hair might save the day, as he previously revealed his wife, Amal Clooney, “hated” the dye job. This came days after Amal went solo at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, and as rumors hinted the couple might be heading for a “costly divorce” in the thick of marital problems.

Earlier this year, the actor underwent a hair makeover for his Broadway debut role in “Good Night, and Good Luck,” but told The New York Times that he was certain Amal would disapprove of it. He then paraded his brunette hairdo for months and brought back his gray hair, which peeked from under his baseball hat at the Tony Awards Nominees Luncheon.

On Monday, George Clooney embraced his iconic gray hair at the Annual Tony Awards Nominees Luncheon in NYC amid rumors of his and Amal’s potential divorce. Ditching the brunette dye, the actor returned with his iconic hair and wore one of his classy looks to the event. This included a black polo T-shirt, which he layered with a blue blazer and matching pants. He finally topped it off with a Lehigh Valley IronPigs baseball hat in grey, subtly complementing his new (but old) hair color.

In February, the Oscar winner admitted to The New York Times that Alam would “hate” his brunette hair, which he dyed for his debut Broadway role. “My wife is going to hate it because nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair,” he told the publication.

He added that their kids, twins Alexander and Ella Clooney, would “just laugh at me nonstop.” The following month, George stepped out in NYC to offer fans a close look at his brunette hair ahead of taking the stage for his performance in “Good Night, and Good Luck.”

According to Page Six, George Clooney’s wife, Amal, wasn’t the only one who disliked the hair makeover. In April, he made it clear that he wasn’t a fan of the brunette dye by mocking it during the unveiling of his caricature at Manhattan’s Sardi’s. The portrait had his hair gray, and George immediately quipped, “I like the hair color,” claiming it was “much better” than his then-dye. He added, “That’s better. It’s gray, mostly gray. There we are, thank you so much.”
