Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin had issues with ‘age gap’, claims ‘source’
The news of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin’s breakup is once again making headlines. The couple has parted ways after almost 8 years of being together. According to a source, this time their breakup seems “final.” The news of their dating started doing the rounds in 2017. The actor and the Coldplay musician made their relationship official with their first public appearance in 2018 and were later reportedly engaged.
However, now, Johnson, 35, and Martin, 48, called it quits mainly due to the 13-year age gap. The source revealed that the exes have been trying to resolve the issue for years, “but things were just never lining up for them and it was very up and down.”
The source told The U.S. Sun, “They really tried to work through their issues but the age gap was often a problem. She’d [also] expressed that she may want children in the future, whereas Chris is kind of done with that part of his life but they discussed it.” Although the duo have “made some beautiful memories as a family,” it will be “hard for both of them to move on after such a long relationship but they will do it,” the insider further added.
It is not the first time that the ex-couple has parted ways. The rumors of Johnson and Martin’s split first started making headlines in 2019. The couple, however, reunited after a brief period of separation. In 2024, their breakup rumors bubbled up again.
Despite the ups and downs, Johnson “loves” Martin’s kids – daughter Apple and son Moses. The singer shares the kids with his ex, Gwyneth Paltrow, with whom he split in March 2014 after more than a decade of marriage.
