It’s not often that we hear about the messy lives of the Below Deck captains, so the recent story that Captain Kerry Titheradge shared in Monday’s episode was eye-raising. Apparently, he met his current girlfriend while they were working together. He was her boss, and now they’re lovers.
Below Deck star Captain Kerry revealed his girlfriend origin story
Captain Kerry got divorced back in 2020, before we ever met him on Bravo. During Below Deck Season 12 Episode 4, Captain Kerry talked to stewardess Barbara Kulaif about his current girlfriend, Ghönül Bihan.
She also works on boats, and Kerry explained how they met during a previous charter season. There wasn’t any overlap between when he was married and when he started dating Ghönül, so it’s not quite as messy as it sounds.
“She worked for me when I was married,” Kerry admitted. “A few years later, I said, ‘How about we go out for dinner?’”
This isn’t the first time that Kerry has dished about his work relationship that became a romantic connection. Back on the short-lived spinoff, Below Deck Adventure, Kerry said that Ghönül was actually the chief stew on his boat.
“We worked together quite a few years ago,” Kerry explained. “She was the chief stew. She actually quit after a few months because she didn’t like the way I ran a boat.”
Four years later, the couple is still going strong! He called her the “love of his life” during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, and judging by her Instagram, she’s pretty head over heels, too. Her grid is filled with adorable photos of the two sharing adventures together. Maybe it’s time for Kerry to put a ring on it?
