Below Deck’s Captain Kerry Titheradge on Finding Love After Divorce

The new season of Below Deck launched on February 5. As Captain Lee Rosbach retired (not so voluntarily) following Season 10, there’s a new captain on the bridge.

Previously heading up the crew of Below Deck Adventure, Captain Kerry Titheradge is the new skipper on the St. David Motor Yacht. This season he, alongside returning crew members Fraser Olender and Ben Willoughby, will be cruising the tropical waters of Grenada.

During the Season 11 premiere, Kerry shared a little background about his personal life, including his divorce. But the captain’s no longer cruising solo, as there’s a new lady in his life.

A lifestyle change for his kids

While eating in the crew mess, Kerry shared some information about his life away from the sea with other crew members. “I was married, and then that ended,” he admitted. “It wasn’t good. I was running a 300-foot yacht. Gave it all up for my kids.”

Kerry shares a son and a daughter with his ex-wife. While they were in the process of separating, he totally changed his lifestyle so that he could spend more time with his kids.

“I went from being a captain of a multi-million dollar yacht to painting houses,” he said in an interview. “I went and did a job that I could focus on myself — put my earbuds in, listen to self-help work. [And] I was there for my kids every day.”

He wanted to be there both physically and emotionally for his kids. “I was taught, you know, the mom’s there to be the emotional support,” he said, “[and] the dad’s there to be the money and the disciplinarian. When [the divorce] happened, it gave me the opportunity to be there for them emotionally as well.”

A new lady in Captain Kerry’s life after divorce

Following his divorce, Kerry began a new relationship with girlfriend Ghönül Bihan. He often posts photos of them together on his Instagram page. He also spoke about her in an interview with The Daily Dish.

“I think her hearing’s getting worse and her eyesight’s getting bad,” he joked. “Because she still thinks I’m beautiful, and she wants to be with [me].”

Following the Season 11 premiere, Ghönül was even in the audience of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to support her love.

When Andy asked if there were any Real Housewives cast members Kerry found attractive during BravoCon 2023, the Aussie native declined to respond. “Being [that the] love of my life is in the audience, it’s very hard to answer that question,” Kerry laughed.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.
