I’m Proud of The Valley’s Brittany Cartwright for Standing Her Ground Against Jax Taylor — Opinion

Let’s get one thing straight. Brittany Cartwright deserves a damn trophy. Not for surviving Vanderpump Rules. Not even for surviving The Valley’s group trips from hell. But for finally standing up to Jax Taylor, the man who has made a second career out of testing her patience on national television. For years, Brittany has smiled through the chaos, defended the indefensible, and put on a brave face as Jax lied, cheated, gaslit, and rage-texted his way through their relationship. But not anymore.

Season 2 of The Valley showed us a different Brittany. A Bravoleb who’s finally putting herself first. And after watching her navigate a crumbling marriage while raising their son and still managing to show up for her friends? I’m not just proud. I’m in awe.

Brittany Carwright protected Jax for too long in The Valley

If you’ve watched any iteration of Jax on Bravo, you know the man is allergic to accountability. From the moment he strolled into SUR with a smirk and a gym bag, Jax has been the walking embodiment of red flags. And yet, Brittany stuck by him. Through the cheating scandals. Through the wedding drama. And through every infidelity rumor out there. On The Valley, we saw just how deeply entrenched Brittany was in her protect Jax at all costs mode. She covered for him when he spoke out of turn. Poor Brittany had to run damage control when he fought with the group. She even made excuses when he belittled her on camera.

At one point, it felt like Brittany was more Jax’s publicist than his wife. And let’s be honest, defending a man like Jax is thankless work. The emotional labor she carried was exhausting to watch, let alone live through. But the worst part? Brittany believed she had to. She believed that being a good wife meant standing by her husband, no matter how much he disrespected her. That’s not loyalty. That’s survival mode.

Brittany Cartwright finally put her foot down

And then, finally, Brittany snapped out of it. Early on in Season 2, viewers saw the shift. The patience wore thin. And Brittany finally saw Jax for who he really is. The tone changed. Brittany wasn’t begging for peace anymore. Instead, she was demanding respect. When she essentially told Jax she was tired of being the only adult in this house, it hit differently. She wasn’t saying it for sympathy. She was saying it because she was exhausted. That moment during the latest episodes when she told him she wants their son to be nothing like him. Chills. Brittany explained how she felt dismissed, unheard, and emotionally abandoned. Jax, of course, deflected and blamed everyone but himself — classic.

But Brittany didn’t waver. The Bravoleb didn’t backtrack. She didn’t cry. She let the silence speak for itself. And she demanded the divorce. The moment Brittany announced she and Jax were taking time apart, fans collectively exhaled. Not because we root against love, but because we root for women who finally realize they deserve more. You can’t forget that Brittany moved across the country for this man. She gave up her job, her family, and her safety net. All for a relationship that drained her more than it filled her love tank. So, for her to finally say enough on camera? That’s power and growth. That’s everything.

With Jax Taylor gone, Brittany Cartwright can move on

Now that the separation is out in the open, the real story begins. Brittany is no longer just Jax’s wife. She’s a single mom, a businesswoman, and a fan-favorite ready to reclaim her storyline. Without Jax’s shadow looming over every scene, Brittany can finally breathe. She can have friendships that aren’t filtered through Jax’s insecurities. And she can speak her mind without worrying about the fallout. Our Kentucky muffin can show up for herself instead of constantly showing up for someone who won’t return the favor. The Valley needs this version of Brittany. The one who’s not afraid to check a man, call out hypocrisy, and still make everyone laugh in the confessional.

She’s got the Southern charm, the Bravo savvy, and now, the freedom to evolve. Will Jax try to worm his way back in? Obviously. But I think he is really done this time, especially after his exit. Will he claim he’s changed and beg for another chance? Probably before Season 3 airs. But Brittany has tasted independence, and she looks good in it. Whatever happens next, one thing is clear: Brittany is no longer the woman who’s content to be second place in her own life. She’s the main event now. And I’m rooting for her every step of the way.

The Valley is available to stream on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
