Love Island USA stars Kaylor Martin and Aaron Evans first locked eyes on day 1 in the Villa. The Season 6 Islanders had a natural chemistry, so it was no surprise when they chose to couple up at the first ceremony. Their romance continued to develop, surpassing other connections in the Villa that faltered due to mismatched expectations or bombshell entrances. Fans mourned the loss of Leah Kateb and Rob Rausch’s fling, but at least we still had Kaylor and Aaron to root for. For a while, they seemed like the most likely winners of the $100,000 prize, but that all changed when Aaron fell victim to the infamous Casa Amor test. His head was turned by bombshell Daniela Ortiz-Rivera, and let’s just say he didn’t move respectfully. In the words of Leah, he “did his big one.”

Aaron’s Casa rendezvous tarnished his relationship with Kaylor and soured the public’s perception of him. Instead of leaving the Villa with a girlfriend, he left with nothing but angry messages from fans demanding answers for his behavior. Kaylor and Aaron’s romance ended shortly after the finale, but their breakup didn’t end their working relationship. They are both cast members on Love Island: Beyond the Villa where they continue to hash out their breakup. In honor of their reunion, let’s take a look back at their relationship.

Kaylor and Aaron coupled up on day 1 in Season 6 of Love Island USA. They remained relatively faithful to each other for the first half of the season. Kaylor briefly explored a connection with Connor Newsum, which Aaron made her feel super bad about even though it was only day 2. Cue eye-roll. Aaron did some exploring of his own. He agreed to a date with bombshell Andrea Carmona, which led to a kiss, but in the end, she chose Rob and Aaron stayed with Kaylor.

As the season progressed, their connection got deeper and they stopped pursuing other options. That is, until Casa Amor. While Kaylor was crying about missing Aaron, he was professing his love to Daniela, a woman he knew for like a day. Men are insane. Despite his lust for Daniela, Aaron chose to return to the Villa single, hopeful about his future with Kaylor. Unfortunately for him, she received a video of his Casa Amor crimes. Yikes. She did eventually forgive him, and the two began to rebuild their relationship. But fans weren’t convinced. They were sent home before the finale after failing to win back viewers.

Why did they break up?

Kaylor broke up with Aaron shortly after they left the Villa. She announced the split on the Barstool Sports podcast BFFs, telling the hosts she felt differently about him after watching the show.

“I definitely do have love for Aaron,” she said. “I just question his love for me and what his definition of love [is] … I’m definitely second-guessing a lot of things he said to me, especially after watching the episodes.”

Kaylor spoke more about her decision to separate from Aaron at the Love Island USA Season 6 reunion. She accused him of lying about his actions in the Villa, saying she never wants to see him again. Well, she couldn’t avoid him forever, especially after they were offered a spinoff. The two spoke at length on Love Island: Beyond the Villa, and Kaylor says she feels more at peace with him now.

“I feel like I’m at a better place,” she told People in July 2025. “I definitely played part-instigator this season with Aaron … But in all, I think it’s all good.”

In Love Island: Beyond the Villa, Aaron spoke about his breakup with Kaylor and the backlash that followed, describing the ordeal as a “horrible experience.”

“After the reunion, I basically dipped back to the UK. It was quite a horrible experience, the whole reunion situation,” he said in a confessional. “There was a lot of backlash, there was a lot of negativity.”

In one episode, he confessed to Connor Newsum that he struggled with his mental health after the show.

“After the reunion, it was pretty dark, and I just remember times where all I wanted to do all day was sleep because it was the only thing that would get me out of thinking of what was going on in my head,” he shared.

Love Island: Beyond the Villa is available to stream on Peacock.
