Jason Momoa has always had an incredible relationship with his kids. During the promotion of his new Apple TV+ series, Chief of War, the movie star shared how his son is getting ready to blow people away as the new generation of Momoa big-screen stars.
Jason can’t say enough good things about his boy, Nakoa-Wolf Momoa. The pair is currently shooting Dune: Part Three. According to Jason, his boy killed it in the upcoming film.
Jason Momoa is excited to see his son on the big screen in Dune: Part Three
Jason passed by the SmartLess podcast and spoke with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes to talk about his love for surfing, quitting smoking, and his new Hawaiian-based historical drama series. He also spoke about his son and his first foray into acting.
“He’s trained in martial arts his whole life,” Jason shared about Wolf (at approximately the 40 minute mark). “And he’s always wanted to act. But I’m like, ‘you’re not acting. There’s no way. I’m not letting you act.’ He does school plays and that’s it.”
The reason Jason didn’t want Wolf to get into acting is because it’s not easy. He would know too, considering many of his roles are exceptionally physically demanding. He said making Hollywood films is “not digging ditches, it’s f*cking hard.”
However, Cale Boyter, the Dune producer, saw Wolf and told Jason his son should be in pictures. The filmmakers eventually cast him as Leto II in the third Dune installment. The character is one of two twin children of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya’s characters. Talk about shooting with the stars!
Jason shared the whirlwind of events leading up to him and Wolf landing in Budapest for Dune filming. Wolf began shooting the day after they landed, and his dad was a nervous wreck.
“His first goddamn scene, I’m there sh*tting my pants,” Jason said. “He’s with Zendaya. I’m like, ‘he’s in it!’ My baby, 16 years old, he just killed it. I’m just crying. I was so proud of him.” Such a proud dad.
After filming, Wolf told his dad he had so much respect for him and the work he does. Jason couldn’t be happier. “You want your kids to just be better than you,” he explained. “I’m like, ‘this motherf*cker’s gonna blow me away.”
Dune: Part Three is scheduled for release December 2026.
