They’re baaaack! I guess 19 seasons of this mess of a family wasn’t enough, because Sister Wives is returning for Season 20.
On August 21, TLC dropped the trailer for the new season. If you thought we’d seen the last of Kody Brown and his only remaining legal wife Robyn Brown, you were mistaken. Robyn, Kody and all three of his ex-wives, as well as (some of) their 18 children, are returning. Really, what more is there to talk about after 19 seasons?
A lot apparently, since the trailer synopsis ominously promises viewers a family that is “more emotionally raw than ever.”
The Sister Wives Season 20 trailer has arrived
In the wake of her having finally left Kody, Meri Brown is cautiously stepping back into the dating world. She seems much happier and ready to find a partner who can give her the one-on-one time she craves.
As she tells her bestie Jenn that she’s planning to attend a speed dating event, the two of them giggle like schoolgirls. When Meri pretends to snort, Jenn jokes, “So, just do that when you walk in tonight.” It’s sure to impress any potential suitors.
Meanwhile, Christine Brown suggests over lunch with her husband David Woolley, “You and Kody could hang out.”
“Nah!” he quickly responds, shaking his head emphatically.
“I knew you’d say that,” she laughs. Nevertheless, the next scene shows David and Kody spending some bonding time together at a racetrack.
Moving on, Janelle Brown, she admits to a friend, “I think I need to get out.”
Her friend suggests, “Change up your hair a little bit, kind of a ‘new’ Janelle.” The next thing we know, Janelle’s living it up in New Orleans, throwing beads off a balcony and having a great time.
Over a video call with Meri, Janelle says she’s “ready” to move ahead with a spiritual divorce from Kody. Though they’ve never really been close, Meri responds supportively, saying, “I love that you’re doing this, Janelle.”
Back in Flagstaff, Kody casually tells Robyn, “I got another one of those emails from some woman. [She’s] asking to … get to know us for the purpose of joining the family.”
Even though she’s always talking about wanting to grow old with her sister wives, rocking on the front porch together, Robyn looks less than pleased.
Then as Meri, Janelle, Robyn and Kody try to settle up over their shared land at Coyote Pass, Kody talks about the need for healing with his exes. However, Christine tells David, “I don’t want to talk to Kody ever again.”
Janelle also wants to tell Kody that they’ll “never be friends.”
The issue becomes unanimous when Meri quotes Taylor Swift, telling Kody, “We are never, ever, ever getting back together.”
Sister Wives returns September 28 at 10/9c on TLC.
