Summer is over, but we’re still talking about Love Island USA Season 7. Andy Cohen just returned to the radio airwaves after a summer hiatus, which means he finally had a chance to respond to fans who were critical of how he handled his hosting duties at the Love Island reunion. Long story short: he’s not interested in the feedback.
Andy Cohen thinks Love Island fans should get familiar with his work
You can say what you want about Andy, but he knows what he’s doing when it comes to hosting reality TV reunions. He has over 150 reunions under his belt. The Love Island Season 7 reunion was just a drop in a bucket.
However, plenty of people had things to say about his approach to the Islanders. Specifically, Andy caught heat for being critical of Huda Mustafa and her unwillingness to divulge details about her love life after leaving the villa.
“There were some youngsters who, maybe, were unfamiliar with my work who were very active online. Andy said during the September 8 episode of Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live.
“And I was like, girl. A. Have you seen, well, you clearly have not seen what I’ve been doing for 20 years,’ Andy continued. “And second of all, when you go on a reality show about having, you know, finding love, and then you go on a reunion for that show, I, as the host of the show, am going to ask about not only your time on the show, but your love life in general.”
Despite the online criticism, Andy said that hosting the reunion was a “joy.’ He also gave a shoutout to Ariana Madix. He felt they both brought important perspectives and hosting styles to the stage.
“That show was a huge hit, and I was, by the way, really happy that Ariana let me do that with her,” Andy added. “She was able to speak to sh*t that she saw that happened in the villa, and I was kind of more representative of what the viewers were saying and thinking, and I thought that that worked well, so I was really happy about it.”
