Prince Harry’s Royal Reunion Is First Step to Prevent ‘Financial Ruin,’ Says Source

Prince Harry’s royal reunion in the United Kingdom was not just about mending fences, but it was also about finances. For four years, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have stood apart from the monarchy. Hence, the recent reunion was widely seen as a breakthrough moment for the fractured relationship. However, according to an insider, it was not just an emotional reconciliation, and money may have been a major motive behind Harry’s 54-minute meeting with King Charles on September 10.

Prince Harry meeting King Charles was his way of ensuring he doesn’t fall further into financial troubles, says source

During Prince Harry’s trip to the U.K. earlier this month, his wish for a royal reunion was granted. The Duke of Sussex sat with his father, King Charles III, for 54 minutes after stepping down from royal duties in 2020. It was an emotional spectacle. However, a source told Star that the prince didn’t just make the journey for family reasons. Some insiders claimed that Harry and Markle’s financial situation may have added urgency to their decision to seek peace with the Crown.

An insider said that the couple “need to somehow put an end to this war with the monarchy, if only to avoid the very real prospect of financial ruin.” The Sussexes, who have lived in California since 2020, have been under financial stress following several unsuccessful projects. In that, their $20 million podcast deal with Spotify fell apart last year. Moreover, Markle’s lifestyle brand, “As Ever,” was also reportedly “out of cash.” To top it all off, the couple’s Netflix ventures have drawn limited interest.

The source claimed they are “panicking,” noting that “new deals aren’t being made.” Hence, the financial backdrop makes Harry’s meeting with his father more than just a royal reunion. The insider further claimed the duke is “keen to explore the possibility” of returning to the monarchy in some “part-time” capacity — an arrangement the late queen had reportedly rejected.

The source explained, “It’s not a scenario that pleases Meghan, for obvious reasons.” However, they claimed that “these are desperate times that call for drastic measures” and that the Sussexes “have to pull some type of rabbit out of the hat before things go totally downhill.”
