Marcus Jordan Cuts Deal To Avoid DUI Criminal Charges; Must Apologize to Cop

Marcus Jordan has not had a particularly easy go of it since his arrest last February. Since then, the son of the famous basketball player has been charged with a DUI, ketamine possession, and resisting an officer without violence.

Marcus’ case was supposed to go to trial last June, but it was pushed back to allow his team more time for plea negotiations. It looks like the negotiations worked. Marcus has cut a deal with prosecutors to close out his case.

The deal was signed in Orange County, Florida. According to TMZ, the deal states that Marcus can have his criminal charges dismissed if he follows certain stipulations. One of the stipulations is to write an apology letter to one of the police officers he berated during his arrest. To be honest, this just seems fair and something he should do either way.

The letter is just one of multiple conditions Marcus will have to meet in the next 12 months. If he completes everything, the prosecutors will enter a nolle prosequi on the three charges.

Along with the apology, Marcus must submit to random drug testing, make a $1,000 donation, have an interlock device put on his car, and complete 50 hours of community service, among other conditions.

On the heels of his arrest, Larsa Pippen’s ex admitted that he had a substance abuse problem. He has worked on getting sober. He initially postponed his trial to take a pre-trial Substance Abuse Education and Treatment Prevention Program.

Since then, Marcus has focused on living well and has even bravely turned his comments on social media back on. It looks like he is finally wrapping up this chapter of his life. Hopefully, he has learned an important lesson and completes his court-mandated conditions so he can put this all behind him. And even more importantly, here’s hoping he won’t make the same mistake again.
