Jay Cutler has reportedly checked in to prison to start his sentence. The former NFL star pleaded guilty to a DUI charge last year. The charge is the result of an incident in October 2024 where he ended up rear-ending another car while allegedly driving buzzed.

Jay reported to a Tennessee jail on Monday evening to begin his sentence, reports TMZ Sports. It’s only a brief stopover for the Chicago Bears alum, though. He is believed to be staying there just until Friday.
The former quarterback already spent four days locked up last month after pleading guilty to the DUI charge. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $350 and spend a year on supervised probation. The judge also required him to attend a DUI safety class and he lost his Tennessee license for one year.
Jay, who is the ex-husband of Kristin Cavallari, was caught drunk driving on October 17 last year. He had ended up in a car accident after allegedly rear-ending another vehicle in Franklin. When officers showed up, the former NFL player showed signs of being over the limit. According to reports, he smelt of booze, was slurring his words and had bloodshot eyes – not a great state to greet police arriving on the scene.
Jay was also sued by a man who claimed he had been left with daily pain following the crash, which he alleges affects his everyday life.
The athlete finalized his divorce from Kristin in 2022. He previously spoke about adapting to life post-NFL in an episode of Very Cavallari. He said: “There’s just a lot of time you’ve got to fill. And I think some people figure it out pretty quickly, and other people don’t.”
