Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, went live today. Understandably, fans couldn’t help but notice various lyrical references the singer had made to her future husband, Kelce. The opening song, “The Fate of Ophelia,” highlighted her personal life.
Swift made a reference to her Fourth of July celebration photo from 2023 in the song. It said that she celebrated being “independent girlies” with her gal pals, Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters, and more. The lyrics go, ” Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes.”
The song “Opalite” is about Kelce’s October birthstone. The lyrics describe how she felt restless and “sleepless in the onyx night” before, but now her life is filled with love and magic, as she sings, “the sky is opalite.”
“Oh my lord, never met no one like you before,” Swift continues singing. In another song, “Eldest Daughter,” the renowned singer emphasized how she has learned to accept a beautiful love story, one that she never thought she’d have.
The lyrics are, “When you found me I said I was busy / That was a lie.” The lyrics continued, When I said I don’t believe in marriage that was a lie / Every eldest daughter was the first lamb to the slaughter,” she sings. “Every youngest child felt they were raised up in the wild / But now you’re home.”
In another track, titled “Wi$h Li$t,” the Grammy-award-winning singer sings that she can leave her luxe life for a simpler one with her partner, Kelce. She sings, “I just want you / Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin’ like you.” The lyrics that follow are, “I made wishes on all of the stars / Please, God, bring me a best friend / Who I think is hot.”
It’s evident that Taylor and Travis are very much in love; the many lyrical references in her latest album make it unmistakably clear.
