September wasn’t a great month for Bachelor alum Melissa Rycroft. Cops busted the reality star and former while cruising around the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The cops held her in jail for a whole business day before she posted bond. Now, her lawyer is urging Bachelor Nation to pump the brakes on their judgment.

Bachelor fans will remember Melissa from winning Season 13 with Jason Mesnick. Shortly after proposing, Jason called it quits and circled back to the runner up. Since then, Melissa has popped up on a handful of reality shows, like Dancing with the Stars. According to TMZ, her latest booking was at a Texas jail.
On September 23, cops busted Melissa for DWI. The specific circumstances surrounding the arrest remain unknown, so we’re not sure if she had a messy encounter with the responding officers or if she went to jail peacefully. Either way, she sat in jail for 8 hours before posting a $1,000 bond.
She has an upcoming court date related to the charge. Until then, her lawyer wants everyone to keep in mind that she’s innocent until proven guilty. Her attorney, Bret Martin, issued a scathing statement to TMZ, asking people to stop casting judgment without hearing the full story.
“I want to remind the public of the fundamental principle of our justice system…every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty,” Bret said. “We, as a society, have gotten completely away from this fundamental concept.”
According to Bret, he’s examining the “circumstances” of the case. He wants to look into the police officers’ conduct and Melissa’s toxicology results. He thinks we shouldn’t draw any “conclusions’ based on the information we know so far about her DWI arrest.
“We respectfully request that the media and the public allow the legal process to unfold, and withhold any judgment whatsoever until all of the evidence has been properly analyzed and presented in a court of law,” Melissa’s lawyer concluded.
