Bethenny Frankel has lived in a lot of places, and we all know she has a lot of opinions too. She recently shared her candid thoughts about living in Connecticut. And spoiler alert: she did not love it! The Real Housewives of New York alum compared living in The Constitution State to prison and not in a good way.
Bethenny purchased her home in Connecticut in 2021. Builders originally constructed the historic three-acre Greenwich colonial mansion, dubbed Applejack Farm, in 1743. While the home is stunning, Bethenny just did not enjoy life there and sold the home for $7.39 million after moving to Florida.
Bethenny Frankel found living in Connecticut “depressing” before her Miami move
“Connecticut was a prison. That’s the honest truth,” Bethenny shared on her Just B podcast. “I could say it another way, but for my personality, at this point in my life, Connecticut was a burden. It was a trap. It was stifling, depressing, and soul-crushing.”
Strong words indeed, but Bethenny has never been one to hold back or sugarcoat her opinion. She clarified that she didn’t feel that way because of the state of Connecticut itself, but because of her life there.
“Because I am older, I spend a lot of time alone, and I work a lot. I want to feel every day like I’m connected to some version of nature. And while I would walk in Connecticut and go on nature walks, now every day I jump in the ocean,” she explained. “I am in salt water, I walk on the sand and feel the sand in my feet.”
She added that she can’t believe this “gets to be her life now.” Bethenny moved to Miami in April for personal and professional reasons. The main reason was for her daughter, Bryn Hoppy, to support her academic and athletic goals. Now, she is loving living in the Sunshine State.
“Some people love the mountains, some people love the lake, some people love the desert or concrete jungle. I like the ocean and jumping in the water,” Bethenny said.
She shared that she couldn’t be happier with the life she’s built for herself. She continues to maintain her residence in New York and the Hamptons, alongside her home in Miami.
“I worked so hard and I still work so hard to get to live this life,” she revealed.
The Real Housewives of New York streams on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
