Victoria Beckham gets vulnerable about her ED
Victoria Beckham’s new Netflix documentary dropped on Thursday, October 9. The former singer makes plenty of candid admissions in the three-part series. One of the most poignant is that she suffered from an eating disorder.
She says she hid her disordered eating from her family and friends, and became “very good at lying”. The fashion icon revealed that she wouldn’t eat as a way to regain some control.
She says in an episode of the series: “It’s been a lot, and that’s hard. I had no control over what was being written about me, the pictures being taken, and I suppose I wanted to control that. I could control it with the clothing, I could control my weight and I was controlling it in an extremely unhealthy way.”
She added: “When you have an eating disorder you become very good at lying and I was never honest about it with my parents. I never talked about it publicly. It really affects you when you’re being told constantly that you’re not good enough and I suppose that’s been with me my whole life.”
In the episode Kill The Wag, Victoria opens up about how she felt like she lost herself while trying to reinvent her image as a fashion designer during the height of husband’s David Beckham’s football career.
On a lighter note, she also addresses the accusations she is a “miserable cow” in the Netflix doc.
