They are allegedly not sitting well with her ex-boyfriend, who was once in a romantic and very public relationship with the “Criminal” singer.
A source told Rob Shuter that Timberlake has been “deeply uncomfortable” with the entire situation. In his book, Federline reportedly claimed that the “Cry Me a River” singer had a conversation with Spears the night before her wedding in 2004. The author allegedly called this move a “massive red flag.”
According to sources, this claim in the memoir made Timberlake feel blindsided. An insider explained, “Justin had no idea that story was coming.” They continued, “He’s moved on, but every time Britney’s name comes up, he’s dragged back into 2002.” However, the “Bye Bye Bye” hitmaker has reportedly decided not to make any comments on the matter.
A source, who is a friend of the singer-actor, told Shuter that Timberlake is “not engaging — not publicly, not privately.” They continued, “He knows anything he says will just blow up online.” In the meantime, another source from the music industry said that the 44-year-old “worked hard to rebuild his image.” They noted, “This is the last thing he wanted. But once again, Britney’s name means his peace is gone.”
