For years, Ramona Singer divided fans on Real Housewives of New York. But somehow, this turtle-timing star also landed herself a spot in Friendly Distractions, a newly streaming Tubi movie. However, as this RHONY alum quickly realized, real talent requires actual work. And this type of work was much more taxing than this reality television star ever expected.
Ramona Singer is stepping into a small movie role
On a recent episode of SiriusXM’s Reality Checked, host Kiki Monique asked Ramona about her recent movie deal. As Ramona explained, this new role fell from the sky and into her lap, courtesy of a chance encounter on an airplane. “I was on a plane, and this man named Adrian Lopez approached me. He said, “I’ve always enjoyed watching you on Housewives, and I’m doing this movie, and I have a small part for you.”
But, apparently, once she met Adrian, he decided that his original plan was not big enough to contain all things Ramnona. So, “he said, ‘I’m gonna make this part bigger for you.’ So I have three small speaking parts,” Ramona explained.
Throughout this process, however, Ramona learned that “acting is harder than reality TV. Because reality TV, if you have a big personality like I do … it’s easy for us, but most people don’t. And they need a script, and it’s, I don’t know, it was different,” Ramona did her best to express. As she next added, with acting, “you have to memorize lines, but I liked it. It was just something out of my element.”
But don’t get too excited (or worried). Ramona does not have much time to further invest in Hollywood. These days, she is off “enjoying my life,” with “Golf, tennis, Palm Beach, Aspen, the Caribbean, [and] the Hamptons,” instead.
The Real Housewives of New York streams on Peacock.
