Dorinda Medley Sets Record Straight on Golden Life Cast and RHONY Reboot Rumors

Dorinda Medley is shutting down rumors that the cast of the upcoming E! show, The Golden Life, is at odds with Bravo’s current Real Housewives of New York cast.

Ever since E! announced The Golden Life, starring several former RHONY Housewives, fans have compared the new series to Bravo’s rebooted Real Housewives of New York. Before long, those comparisons turned into rumors that the two casts weren’t exactly rooting for each other.

Dorinda addressed the speculation directly and explained why she thinks the narrative has gotten so out of hand.

The Golden Life star shuts down the negative RHONY headlines

On the July 20 episode of SiriusXM’s Reality Checked, Dorinda said the rumored feud between the two casts simply doesn’t exist.

Dorinda began, “All this bullshit that the Golden Girls don’t want anything to do with the new New York housewives, there’s all these things coming out that there’s some, there’s zero rivalry.”

Dorinda explained that she hasn’t heard anyone speak negatively about Bravo’s reboot.

“There hasn’t been one talk, not at least to me, and I’m pretty close to everyone, about that. No one’s referred to it. No one’s acknowledged it.”

Dorinda said the two shows aren’t even trying to do the same thing. She pointed out that the women on Bravo’s reboot are decades younger and are in a completely different phase of life, with stories centered on marriages, children, and everything that comes with that. The Golden Life, on the other hand, follows women who are empty nesters and figuring out what life looks like after 50. The E! series reunites Dorinda with fellow former RHONY stars Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, Sonja Morgan, and Kelly Bensimon.

Dorinda said she’d be the first to admit it if there really were bad blood between the casts.

“You know me, I would tell the truth. You know, I’m the first one to be like, ‘Yeah, that’s right. We’re coming after them.’ But we’re not. I swear to you there hasn’t been one conversation like that.”

She also pushed back on the idea that two female-led reality shows have to be rivals.

“Why can’t two shows exist at the same time and both be fantastic shows? But of course, because it’s two groups of women, we have to make it negative. We have to make it angry. We have to make it competitive.”

Instead, Dorinda said both casts can support one another.

“They can celebrate us. We can celebrate them, which we’ve always done. You never hear me badmouth or say anything bad about those girls.”

The Real Housewives of New York is streaming on Peacock, and E!’s The Golden Life is expected to premiere this fall.
