Whoopi Goldberg Rips Up The View Cohost’s Note About Trump

Host Whoopi Goldberg of The View was not pleased after fellow panelist Sunny Hostin passed her a note during the popular ABC talk show. On Monday, November 3, the cohosts discussed Trump’s lengthy interview on 60 Minutes when Goldberg made a comment about the president that Hostin attempted to clarify with a note on a blue card. The EGOT-winning actress was so frustrated with what she read on the card that she went into a rant and ripped it up more than once.

Goldberg tears Hostin’s note on Trump joke multiple times

During the commentary about Trump’s 60 Minutes interview, Goldberg said she believed Trump “used an autopen,” whic his a robotic device that copies a person’s signature.

As the legal expert on the panel, Hostin later passed a blue card to Goldberg, interrupting her while she was in the middle of making a point about people meeting with judges. She reacted to the note by saying “What the hell? What?!” as cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin commented, “I love when Sunny passes notes!”

Hostin then explained why she passed the note along. “We don’t know if Trump used an autopen,” trying to ensure that the show didn’t get into legal trouble for stating something they weren’t sure of as fact. This comes amid rumors that the producers for The View are demanding “softer” content from the panelists, with them reportedly being told to stop bashing Donald Trump so aggressively.

Aggravated, Whoopi clarified that “It was a joke!” and went into a rant about the difference between her making jokes and being serious. “The hardest thing about this job now is no one understands nuance,” she explained. “You know, when you hear a joke, when somebody is fooling around, when they’re not saying something specific. Especially on this show.”

“I’m very specific when I’m pointing stuff out,” Goldberg said while ripping up the note about six times. “When I’m making jokes, you know when I’m making jokes.” She then proceeded to call the note she received “ridiculous” before the audience clapped.
