Bethenny Frankel is confirming to PEOPLE magazine that she is indeed pregnant.
The Real Housewives of New York City star had hoped to wait until she was further along to break the news, but a Monday report by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, has forced Bethenny, 38, to admit she is 2 months pregnant.
“It’s premature to be telling people this,” she tells PEOPLE while fighting back tears. Bethenny had hoped to keep her pregnancy a secret a bit longer and is not too pleased that her fiance Jason Hoppy‘s parents had to find out about it through the media.
“It’s not like, ‘Did I Get Botox?’ It’s not the way I wanted it to get out,” she says. “I haven’t even gone through my first trimester. We haven’t even heard the heartbeat. My [fiancé's] parents didn’t even know.”
She and Jason are however “both so excited,” says Bethenny. Still, she adds that because the pregnancy is early and due to her age, “I am praying everything is okay but I don’t know that yet.”
And since this is Bethenny, she had to add a little humor to the situation. “I got to be honest, we are both feeling kind of proud of ourselves. We are both 38 and we were like, ‘Listen, your fish can swim and I am fertile.’ So that’s exciting.”
Bethenny says she and Jason plan on tying the knot before the baby arrives.
Congrats to Bethenny. She looks rather happy lately. I do feel bad that she is forced to confirm her 2 months pregnancy due to the media, which includes us. Our blog is however a bit different because we don’t break the news, we simply report on what is out there. Unfortunately once Perez Hilton, whose blog reaches millions a day, broke the story, it was already out there and we sort of have to report about it. Not sure if Perez knew she was only 2 months along, highly doubt it would have changed his perspective on breaking the story though.

Yes, of course he did, but he always does. I unbookmarked his site and stopped reading it about a month ago, because I’d had enough of his hate and negativity. Then I unfollowed him on Twitter after his T-Mobile tirade. He needs to go away already. I used to love his site, but then I realized, he’s the biggest hater of them all. For someone Bethenny’s age, this pregnancy is already risky. Now because someone (Probably Kelly Bensimon, who probably found out from Bethenny’s frenemy Jill Zarin) leaked the news to Mario, Bethenny could potentially risk having to have a miscarriage publicly. Best wishes to her. She is my alltime favorite “housewife.” She is the most sane one out there.

Someone close to Bethenny had to have told Perez Hilton. And Bethenny had to have known that telling anyone outside of her finance would open the risk of her pregnancy being publicized.
Perez Hilton is in the business to spread the latest news about celebrities. I think she was probably so happy that she couldn’t keep it very well to herself, although it’s understandable that she wanted to wait until she was through her first tri-semester.
I think Hilton was treading on fair ground, especially since Bethenny’s whole storyline the first season and some of the second season revolved around her desire to have a child. She opened this part of her life up to the public-at-large, so of course the general public is interested and happy to share the moment with her.
I doubt that Bethenny, who is known for being the most open and outspoken housewife of all, is very disturbed by everyone knowing, even if they didn’t learn in the way and when she would’ve preferred.
I don’t see where any great harm was done.
OOPS! I mean “trimester”.
The harm lies in the fact that she’s 38 years old and this is considered a high risk pregnancy. Most miscarriages in any pregnancy happen within the first trimester. Hell, I was in my twenties when I got pregnant and I didn;t share the news until I was out of the first trimester because of the large chance of miscarriage during those first three months. As outspoken as she is this is obviously a sensitive subject for her.
We have to draw the line as the audience or people will continue to have their private lives ravaged by the media and blogosphere.
She should have had the power over sharing her news with the world, if she chose to.
Heck, Jennifer Hudson never said she was pregnant publicly and now she’s posing for pictures in magazines with her new baby.
Lastly, God forbid she suffer through the heartbreak of miscarriage, are the same ones so quick to blow the whistle on her early pregnancy going to be their with the same support and encouragement during the pain? I think not.
I agree with Fauleigh. If she did not want anyone to know, she would not have mentioned it to one person and then they spread the word and so on and so on.lol. I would have especially kept my mouth shut, since she is considered high risk because of her age. I wish her the best either way. Perez is giving the masses what they drool for, regardless if it is right or wrong. I do not think Perez broke any major rules. I have seen worse.

Truly, I don’t believe Jason would be considered “finance” material–for one, Bethenny’s PR has been alternately referring to her FIANCEE, Jason Hoppy, as a pharmaceutical rep (he’s not!!) and a real estate developer (he actually lists rentals..and at that…on the low end UPPER MANHATTAN apts…the boy is no Donald Trump!)
AS for her ring–well, her former PR rep blabbed about some pre-engagement ring last summer, which was embarrassing since she is much older than 16 and a “promise ring” doesn’t really work.
Her new “rock,” which is LARGE, but unattractive and pear shaped (disco 70s style anyone..can we get a Kelly Bensimmon owl pendant to match her ring…has been clearly labeled in all articles by the name of the woman designer (whose name temporarily escapes me).

Nope, I live in NYC and haven’t heard of Kristen Farrell, but fear not—she is the sister of a top Bravo exec (so wonder no more why her name is featured in every article about the engagement.)
Yea that fat ass is always trying to beat every one even if it’s something hurtful like saying michael jackson was faking his sickness to avoid his tour. This fat ugly ass needs to have more respect for others and needs to stop trying to out every one just cause he is a flaming queen. Not being mean cause i am gay also but people should come out on their own terms and when they are ready.
If you are going to put yourself in the public eye then you get what you get. It’s ridiculous for anyone to think they can avoid the tabloids and gossip mongers and while getting paid to air their dirty laundry on television.
When Bethany signed up for all of this several years ago; she opened the door to the papparazzi and anyone else who wants a bit more of her reality other than the show. IMHO it comes with the territory. You can’t have the attention only when it’s conveinant~Bethany used the show as one big commerical for all her diet/cooking ventures. And, she hung her self out there for the media to do what they do best.
I personally think it’s a shame that the people revealing all these little snippets~feel that private medical/pregnancy issues are fair game for anyone. But when you make your life an open book…..what do you expect? Real? Housewives? Give me a break!

The “people” having their “private lives ravaged by the media & blogosphere” are getting paid to do so! They signed on for it. Reality Shows are not new. We have all seen the fallout that early reality show people have gone through once their dirty laundry gets aired and yet more and more people are wanting to see their names in lights. You get what you ask for.
