The Bravo network has finally confirmed what we’ve all known for weeks, which is that Danielle Staub is leaving the Real Housewives of New Jersey “forever.”
The confirmation came last night from Andy Cohen via a blog on Bravo. “The reunion was Danielle’s last appearance on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. We thought the hugs were a great way to end two seasons of bitterness between the women,” said Andy.
No reasons were given for Danielle’s departure from the show, though reports state that Danielle’s co-stars gave Bravo an ultimatum. As for Danielle, she is currently trying to get her own spin-off show. No word yet on whether any network has picked it up.
In other news, could Teresa Giudice be the next housewife to leave the New Jersey franchise?
According to a story by the NYPost today, that answer is very likely. The Post reports Teresa herself a friend of Teresa’s tells them “Teresa is done with Bravo, I don’t think any amount of money will make her come back.”
The reason? Apparently Teresa made a bad deal with Bravo over royalties from her cookbook, “Skinny Italian.” A source tells the Post Teresa is the only housewife in the franchise to give Bravo 10 percent of royalties from her book sales. In exchange, Bravo was suppose to make up the difference by promoting her book on the show.
She reportedly filmed several scenes with the book such as cooking and testing recipes, but as we all know, none of that footage was aired. The only brief mention of Teresa’s book came during the finale episode.

The NYPost story also confirms that Teresa hates her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga, who Bravo has reportedly signed on for season 3.
Plus, following the news that Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice are being accused of fraud and hiding assets in their bankruptcy filing, Popeater is reporting today that Teresa is “terrified” of going to prison and “would rather drop out of the show altogether than end up in prison because of something she lets slip on TV.”
A source also tells Popeater that Teresa would rather have Danielle back than have her sister-in-law on the show. “If Melissa does join, Teresa will quit for sure,” says the source.
UPDATE: Danielle is now speaking out on her departure from the show. She tells UsWeekly, “I’m way too good for this… They have used me about as much as I can be used.”
“I think it’s time for me to move on and upward,” says Danielle. “I don’t see any interest for me to be attacked like that.” She adds, “I mean, what’s left for [the other castmates]? To kill me? Bravo seems to be glorifying their behavior. And I think it’s almost like telling children to behave poorly at school, ‘It’s OK.’”
Danielle however makes it clear she wants a spin-off. “I want my own show,” she says. “I want to be me now. Not me according to other people. Me…a spin-off is absolutely, positively where I’m going.”

Scarlett #15, EXACTLY!! I thought the same thing. The “epiphany” threw me for a loop because I honestly didn’t think Jac had the guts to go against her Pit Boss of a SIL. Wonder if there’s family drama in the Manzo clan now that she’s done so??

Bravo was not going to encourage ignoring the book and moving on to something else. Bravo is all about the drama because it gets ratings and they are not about to encourage good behavior from any of these women.
DD is much more calculating than what is shown on camera. Anyone who is willing to sign the release on a sex tape is not going to be all that upset about a book exposing criminal behavior. But, it makes for great TV to be playing the victim and acting like she is being hunted down by the other women. DD went ballistic about her girls being told by someone else she was looking for her mother, acting like this information was very upsetting to the girls. The girls obviously didn’t care all that much. They certainly didn’t look upset and even tried to defend Kim D. for repeating the info. Yet DD wants everyone to believe this was a horrible thing for her girls to have hear this from someone else. DD and Bravo both know that to amp up the drama is good for ratings and DD is an expert at that.
She never had it so good on that show and somehow she screwed it all up. The only thing I have ever seen get a housewife fired is being boring and DD was not boring, so it was either money or her actions or both.
I do remember reading something about the bodyguards being armed on the last show was like a last straw with Bravo.
I don’t know if that was it, but I can see that it could have resulted in a huge fiasco for Bravo if something had gone wrong and those men pulled their guns. DD knew that armed guards were not necessary, but she wanted to play up the mafia thing and wasn’t smart enough (or cared enough) to think about what a nightmare that could turn into if things took an odd turn.

Teresa needs to leave the show now so the cameras don’t capture her being carted off to jail.
She is easily replaceable. Since she is about to lose her home and is broke and now probably going to jail her storyline is of no interest….it’s just depressing at this point and no one wants to watch that.
They need to find a classy housewife with real money, not a faker and liar like Teresa.
Funny how she is afraid of saying something on camera, why? If she just told the truth she would not have to worry about getting caught in her lies.

I do think if anyone else might leave it could still be Caroline. She really looked liked she was fed up with the whole fake hug out at the end….and she may not want to have to spend another season defending teresa. Look how she reacted towards DD for lying to the court about Ashley. And now she’d have to defend teresa’s lying to the courts…she may not want to deal with it. I could see her getting fed up with teresa.

@34 and 35 Linda, I completely agree with everything you said. Anyone who thinks DD is sincere-I have a bridge to sell you! If I was Caroline having to be privy to everything that happened on and off camera and then having to endure that phony hugfest, would have had no patience for that baloney either. Strega will never change! I am just relieved when she went to hug TT, she didn’t pull a knife out of her wifebeater and stab her.
I’m not sure what to think of last night’s reunion episode. I would like to think all of the hugging and apologies were sincere, though it seemed a bit odd. Jacqueline seemed like her old self from Season 1 when she apologized to Danielle. I think that if she or Ashley had offered Danielle an apology for what happened at the fashion show, perhaps Danielle would not have pressed charges. I believe Danielle that an apology woud have gone a long way with her. Caroline should have done it when she met with Danielle, but all she did was throw Danielle’s past in her face for the three thousandth time.
Bringing a hairdresser’s dummy on the show was a bit comical, but Danielle wanted to prove her point. As for Teresa, as much as I would like to see her off the show, she would be stupid to leave it. She has no money and needs income desperately, and Bravo made her. What the heck else is she going to do? THe only reason her cookbook was a bestseller is because people know her from this show. There is no reason to care about Teresa Guidice otherwise. And if she leaves, people will forget about her and she’ll be nothing again. People won’t want to buy her makeup (who wants to look like Teresa?), and those ridiculous bows she puts in her childrens hair? Come on. Everything she tries will be a huge flop. Its the usual case of someone getting too big for their britches and making an ass out of themsevles thinking they are more important and well-liked than they actually are. We’ve all seen how good Teresa is at that.
As for Danielle, she is nuts, but I will miss her. The Caroline Manzo Having Cawfee in my Kitchen Show or THe Teresa Fighting with My Sister in Law with ugly skanky bows in my kids hair show doesn’t appeal to me.

Just read an article that Danielle was fired, she did not quit and that according to Bravo contracts, the housewives must wait a period of 2 years before they can appear on any other show on any other network. Looks like the only show Danielle will be on are RHONJ reruns and since they do not get residuals, it is a wrap. She might try to do anyway, that would not surprise me, but for every 1 lawyer she gets, NBC has an entire legal department.
I have been having problems posting today as well. Thought it was just me.
I do think Jacqueline was sincere in her apology. Not sure about Theresa. I do think Theresa should have gracefully taken herself off the show-but that is not her style. I would be so mortified if I was in her predicament, I would want to go hide somewhere, I would be so ashamed of my actions. Then again, I would not let myself get into that situation. No doubt it will be interestng to see how things develop.
I can’t remember where I read it but according to an article I read a year ago, Danielle was bragging about being mentioned in a book, years before this show started. Most of the people in her town knew about it. Since all of the other women lived in a different suburb, it was news to them
@ 64 Gingertee: I also read that but here’s my question. I can undersand the 2 year wait if the person quits the show. But does that apply if the person is fired?
I lived in another town for a year (that shall remain nameless) but we could call it the weave capital of the US and it is not located in California. The king & queens of weave are located in the South. I worked in a salon for a few months and I did bonded and braided weaves. I thought her entire wig head performance was comedy at its worst. Talk about over dramatization, Danielle I’m not saying that it didn’t hurt, but she didn’t just cross over the line, I am talking about olympic type hurdle.
My understanding was that it was 2 years if they leave the show, regardless of the exit method.

If the show loses both Danielle and Teresa, I won’t watch it anymore. Bravo should just give Teresa the deal she wants because that’s where their ratings are coming from. They don’t take 10% of Bethenny’s book profits, so why should they get 10% of Teresa’s? Bravo showed Bethenny promoting her book on the show, but why wouldn’t they show Teresa promoting her book? In fact, Bravo blantantly promoted ALL of Bethenny’s products on the show. Almost all of Bethenny’s scenes are nothing but one big commercial. Bravo even had Gretchen and Alexis from OC order Bethenny’s Margarita’s on their show.
Bravo sure does give some people special treatment.
Also, if Danielle got her own show, I would watch it. Danielle is many things, but boring is not one of them.

I can tell you, I was rooting for Caroline (albeit the eyes rolling and smirky looks) she managed to stay on tract.
I can almost understand Jac caving in…she’s looking to clear Brashley. I am confused about Teresa? WTH was that all about? One minute she’s acting like Georgette of the Jungle, the next she’s making nice. She is a cafone, no question.

I heard the same thing about the book being known and Strega talking about it long before the show ever started to film. Can’t remember where I read it but I saw articles about it a few places.

I just read on PopEater that Danielle is contract bound to Bravo for 2 more years. I seriously doubt they’ll be offering a show to her and she isn’t free to pursue or accept one from another network until the contract runs out. I believe one of the reasons she was fired was b/c of her lawsuits. Bravo states in their contracts that cast members may not sue ine another. I would love to see Teresa leave. She’s a liar and a criminal.

Last night’s episode reminded me of Season 1 finale. Again, I saw Jac squirming with trying to do the right thing (by Danielle) and trying to maintain peace within her family. Like then, I think she took the high road by releasing her anger and resentment against DD. Caroline was pissed because her control of Jac distinquished. Caroline is the one who started all the drama – she didn’t like DD and didn’t want this “stranger with a sordid past” to be near her FAMILY. It was sad to see jac’s facial reaction to Caroline’s invalidation of the peace accord. Yet, wasn’t that Caroline’s goal when she met with DD? I admire DD for standing up against Mama Bear Caroline!

Caroline dumped on the peace accord because she failed to broker it herself. No way could she acknowledge that Jacqueline succeeded where she failed.

As much as I am addcited to watching the RH franchise, why does it seem in the last year and a half like Bravo is making a deal with the devil? Each city’s cast all seem like they are amping up the drama, and it does not matter who is hurt. It is a bit concerning.
I like the fact that Carolyn Manzo throws the B*S* flag when she sees it. She’s not buying into DD’s lies and she won’t make phony gestures. I would hate to have Jac for a sister in law because she is spineless and wishy washy. She brings nothing to the show but yawns.
