It’s Jersey Shore vs. Governor Chris Christie take two, as the New Jersey Governor recently blocked a $420,000 tax credit that was promised to the production company behind the MTV hit show.
Gov. Christie, an outspoken critic of the Jersey Shore, did not mince his words or feelings in explaining why he vetoed the credit. He stated that he was “duty-bound” to stop taxpayer money from going to “a project which does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens.”
While his reasons seem fair enough, Gov. Christie, who allowed tax credits for other TV shows and films to go forward, is now facing criticism from some who feel he went above and beyond by blocking this tax credit. A piece written by the NYDailyNews criticizes Christie for doing the same thing he attacks the show for — which is playing to the cheap seats.
In other Shore news, Deena Cortese is now speaking out following the airing of the kiss seen around the world. One half member of ‘Team Meatballs’ explained her never-ending makeout session with Snooki during an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Deena stated, “Me and [Snooki] make out when we’re drunk sometimes, it happens! Team meatballs! Meatball power! It was kind of stupid. The roommates were all being so lame and judgmental when they have seen it happen before! It was like, ‘why are you surprised?’”
Deena went on to add that another explanation for the makeout session was also the lack of guys in Italy. “I felt very lonely in Italy. A lot of them had boyfriends and I was like the single girl having a good time,” said Deena. “It was hard to find guys out there because some of them didn’t speak English, some of them hooked up with their sisters! It was hard to communicate.”
And speaking of Snooki, she is also getting media attention after she was pictured above over the weekend during an event in Atlantic City. Many media outlets credited her with a drastic weight loss (not really seeing this) to which she credited the Zantrex weight loss pill. She has an endorsement deal with them. Snooki tweeted, “Glad to hear reports that say I look good =) but it’s not because of HCG! Thanks @Zantrex!”
Moving on to tonight’s all new episode of the Jersey Shore. On the 9th episode this season titled “Three men and a Snooki,” Snooki is devastated over her big fight with Jionni, and decides to take a break from the relationship while also turning to drinking. Mike thinks it’s finally his chance to win her over, but it’s someone else who ends up comforting her. Meanwhile, Deena has a pregnancy scare.
The episode airs tonight on MTV at 10/9c.
And as for Snooki and boyfriend Jionniiiiii, they are still together! The Snooks tweeted the below photo of the two just hours ago with the caption “Always.”

TELL US – THOUGHTS ON GOV. CHRISTIE’S DECISION? PLUS THOUGHTS ON DEENA’S COMMENTS? DO YOU THINK SNOOKI LOST WEIGHT?

Yea its not fair to block tax credit for a show, while corrupt companies take all the tax breaks…..and steal our money at the same time……through bailouts, what a joke…
It will hopefully keep MTV from filming any and all Jersey Shore shows. I can’t only say I hope the state of Jersey blocks these fools out once and for all.
They are exactly the same color.
I can’t help it – I love the jersey shore lol. Reminds me of when I was young and the crazy people I knew lol. They’re party people in every city and every ethnicity. I don’t know very many party people who wouldn’t jump at the opportunities these guys got. At the end of the day they are the ones that will have to explain to any offspring what they did growing up. IMO it’ll be a tough sell lol as they are all well in their 20′s.
To me, Deena is an undercover lesbian. She might as well just come out. Everyone else is.
I can agree with Chris about how the JS show can have a negative outlook on the state in which they reside, you know, with ugly sterotypes and all, but I bet that since this show has aired, tourism has gone through the roof. Just like when the Situation was wearing Aeropostale, the stock went up. When Aeropostale dissed him, the stock went down. Crazy yet true. I would not let pride get in the way of me making money. What about NJ Housewives? Why is he not going after Bravo? I mean, Teresa flips tales, chases ppl though country clubs, files for bankruptcy because of massive amounts of debt, disrupts Christening, and the list can go on and on. But this is what sales.
Your morals shouldnt have to be compromised because of a tv show. Maybe he should just sit back and do like Adele did, Roll in the deep (amounts of money these shows bring in).
The real story here is, the gov. is a favored candidate right now for the republican nomination. Do we really need a pres. who is this petty and vindictive? It’s fucking scary if you ask me. As governor of the state of New Jersey, he should be too busy to even watch TV!
I was wondering the same thing @Breanna (#5). How is Housewives any different? Doesn’t Housewives “a project which does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens.” OR is that how people of Jersey really are; “prostituion whores (Danielle)”, “table flippers, cheating people out of their money” (Teresa), family dictator (Caroline), I can go on and on about the rest of them.
The Jersey Shore cast didn’t go to the state and make it any worse. You have Housewives doing a great job of “representing” the state.
He needs to be fair….
The point of this story is not how the show represents the State of New Jersey, it’s about New Jersey Taxpayers paying $420,000 to MTV because they filmed in the State. Considering the fact that taxes in the State of New Jersey are through the roof, people are losing their homes because they cannot afford to live here, why should we taxpayers shell out another $420,000???? Whether the show is trashy or not, how much revenue has the show brought to the State that we, the taxpayers, can afford to give them $420,000 because they film in our State? The article states MTV spent $2.1 million, but how much of that really went into the New Jersey economy? I’m sure part of that $2.1 million went for salaries of not just the actors but all the people involved in making this show, not to mention, lodging fees for the crew, food, etc. That whole $2.1 million did not go into the State of New Jersey to justify the Taxpayers of the State to giving $420,000 of our hard-earned money.
Hmm first Jionni is a fame whole,, what self respecting guy would be caught with that kind od sleeze, dusgusting chick if she wasnt bringin home ALL the bacon,,, You know its true!! End of story as for Jersey Shore.. It just goes to show pick up any group of losers of the street,, surround them w/ some cash, a bunch of stylists, cameras,, boose,, and MTV’s legal team… You could make a diamond out of dog poop!
@2 and @9~~I feel the same way! Also, I wish they would stop referring to themselves as “Meatballs”~~did I miss something but somehow that’s not so flattering for women their age~~I mean they’re not 6 years old~~~~
Sweet Jesus, her man is beautiful, dark-skinned Italian hunk. He’s gorgeous and looks every exotic.
Deena, sweetheart…you have to have sex with a man to get pregnant!
@JerseyShoreRose…I don’t live in new jersey so I take it you know much more about this subject than I do and how this particular show impacts your state. I agree with your comments. This show in particular may bring in alot of revenue for your state but lets face it it’s the most trashiest show and I for one applaud governor christie for stepping up and saying enough is enough. This is from a morality standpoint.Your state has what 4,5,6, reality shows right now so I don’t think it will hurt to much if mtv went somewhere else. I don’t know whats your thought on this. He seems like a smart man, a little loud but smart. By the way my mother likes him[we live in oregon] and thinks he’s a take the bull my it’s horns kind of guy.
While I don’t like Gov. Christie’s politics, I do have to agree with him on this one. There is this video that TMZ posted on Youtube of Snooki so drunk that she was dancing with a potted plant and she didn’t know that it was a potted plant. It’s titled “Snooki to POTTED PLANT: May I Have This Dance?”. It’s a show with an entire cast of alcoholics, the men get extremely violent when they get drunk, and they need Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and rehab. Maybe Dr. Drew Pinsky at sister station VH1 would take them on Celebrity Rehab. They make the people of NJ look like drunken idiots and Gov. Christie knows it.
yes
Jionni is hot.
