Former RHODC Star Stacie Turner Calls Salahis “Nuts!” And Talks Life Following Reality TV!

Former Real Housewives of D.C. star (and one of the only housewives to ever seem normal), Stacie Turner is discussing the latest Sahali attention ploy and updating us on her life post-reality TV in a new interview.

Discussing why D.C. may have been canceled, Stacie quickly dispels the myth that poor ratings led to the show’s demise (although most fans found it boring) and believes it was the Salahi scheme that caused the cancellation.

“People tried to say it was poor ratings. We had some of the highest ratings for all of the shows,” Stacie protests. “We had a character that did something that’s never been done before on national television,” she says alluding to ultimate grifters, Michaele and Tareq Salahi crashing the White House. As for Stacie’s opinion of the Salahis: “Both of them are nuts!”

She does feel that Michaele is the better of the two (if you can imagine) and corroborates accounts that Tareq was a very negative influence in her life. “I did get to see a side of [Michaele] that made me sympathetic toward her,” Stacie admits. “I think the relationship between her and Tareq was not positive in any way, shape or form. So if running off with a rocker is gonna make her happy… then great for her.”

As for Stacie’s life post-television – she’s doing great – and has maintained her friendship with out-spoken Brit, Cat Ommanney! “Life is good! I’m really, really busy on a couple fronts, besides just the normal family stuff,” she says, referring to her thriving real estate business and her charity, Extra-Ordinary Life.

She also reveals she still keeps in touch with her biological father whom she met in Nigeria and plans to visit again soon.

And as for Stacie’s desire to return to the spotlight: “I mean, never say never… but for me it’s all about the image. If it was a quality show, yeah.” So, I’m guessing that rules out anything on Bravo!

Thoughts on Stacie’s comments about why RHODC was canceled? What do you think about her comments that Tareq was bad for Michaele – do you agree or disagree? Would you watch Stacie on a different reality show?

  1. I would love to see her get a show on HGTV. I would watch that. I do think those nut cases brought down the show.

  2. I loved the DC Housewives, wish they would bring them back.

  3. I truly loved her sense of reason on the show. She made me laugh till I cried when she had the Grifters for dinner. I clearly remember that they left through the back door and the look on her face. Stacie and Jason both said, “How are you going through the front door of the White House, but leave out the back door of my house?” Truly comedic.

  4. She’s right about the ratings, but those ratings were inconsistent. The DC Housewives show was always a one trick pony, and that is mostly because Bravo painted themselves in a corner. They milked it too much and we got sick of it. And once the white house crashers card was played the show just didn’t have anywhere to go.

Plus I think most of these ladies were too mild mannered for Bravo’s tastes. (Aside from Cat’s feisty tongue, of course, but that’s not enough.)

There’s nothing wrong with being part of a failed reality show…in fact it probably means you are quite normal.

And I was so happy to hear she is still in touch with her father. Good for her!

  5. Uh no…RHODC really WAS boring. What a snoozefest.

It was really boring except for the Salahi antics and Cat was somewhat entertaining. If I recall, they were cancelled because they were being divas and said they refused to film with the Salahi’s. So Andy sent them packing.

  7. Glad that she is doing well, although I figured she would be as she was intelligent, kind, funny and always composed on-air. Wish her well!

  8. I would love too see Stacie on HGTV selling homes to anyone. She is very professional n knowledgable in her field. We need good honest real estate ppl. Good luck in whatever the future holds for Stacie n Jason. They were the couple to watch on the show. Enjoyed watching them.

  9. I agree with her. I do think Micheale (or whatever the hell her name is) is unstable. I do think her years being married to that guy did a great deal of that. I don’t think we truly know how dangerous he is. There is just something about his total easy of telling a totally fabricated story to someone that knows the truth hides an extremely dangerous dark side. Did he really think that the only way anyone would walk out on him is to be physically taken away? He is very very dark.

  10. There is a show on HGTV called “Get it Sold” and I saw Stacie on maybe 2 episodes. I’m sure she filmed the episodes pre-housewives.

I love stacey I had the chance to meet her at Tysons Mall in Virginia. One thing people don’t realize is that in Washington, DC its all about the deals and the policies. I work for the fed government and yo u can’t even go to lunch without making some type of political deal in this city. Its but so much of they can show you and so many places that will allow tv cameras in especially on Capital Hill and downtown DC. You would see some stuff and think WTH did that just happen? Yep sure did

  12. She needs a reality check. DC had really poor ratings and was an awful show. I think the reason Bravo cancelled DC and gave Miami another chance is because they saw that Miami had some potential to grow if a few changes were made.

  13. No matter if Micheale is a fame whore or not, I believe Tareq was the puppet master pulling the strings in that relationship. I believe she just went along with a lot of the schemes he concotted because she was his wife.

I read somewhere that since none of them wanted Michaele back on the show, and none of them would sign a contract to do a second season if Michaele was on, that’s why Bravo decided to cancel it.

If so, good for them. Despite them being dull and lackluster, that to me showed that they had class and morals, that they stood by, even if it did mean the demise of their show.

Those broads on Miami just totally sucked! Esp. the basketball wives…disgusting! All the posing for husbands/boyfriends in the “little get ups”! Maryisol and her Mum were cool.

  15. HYPOCRITE!

  16. I have always thought that Tareq was controlling. I think they are both crazy, but good for Michaele for running away.

I agree that Stacie would be good on HGTV. She would do a better job than Dina.

  17. I wish they would bring back DC. Stacy was one I enjoyed. Actually 4 of them I enjoyed lol

  18. I guess we wont be seeing her on Bravo any time soon. Quality and Bravo are two words not to be used in the same sentence.

  19. I thought the DC ladies all showed class except for the Salihis (sp?). I for one enjoyed them. That is often a major complaint that people air (the woman are classless, too much arguing) but when we get pretty well behaved ladies, they’re called boring.

I didn’t even recognize Stacie she sure has packed on the pounds since that horrible show ended….boring as heck no storyline…..go away

Just because Stacie is educated she is snotty in addition to everything else…bye bye

  21. @ceejay lol I agree, I stopped watching NJ, I might not watch OC since Peggy had sense to leave!

  22. I LOVE Stacie & her whole family! I loved watching her & her husband every time. She’s the best. I also liked watching her & Even Michaele together. I get what she’s saying. Tarq was a mess. I imagine had manipulated Michaele time & again.
Michaele seemed to have a good heart, underneath the mess of their life together. She needed to get away. Michaele never acted above ANYBODY, same with Stacie. If you only look at Michaeles good traits, it’s understandable why they got along well (for awhile).

I don’t understand how DC was too boring and at the same time everyone is over the fighting&arguing on all the other shows. Then what does everyone want??

  24. I actually liked this show. They did their arguing with words not by flipping tables or pulling hair.
Yes Cat could be very inappropriate but again, she expressed herself with words, they didn’t act like low life street gangs. I’d love to see them come back.
‘Can’t believe that Bravo got rid of DC but are keeping the Miami bunch. I know Andy Cohen gets a kick out of Mama Elsa. I don’t know what he finds so amusing about this senior citizen drunk.

  25. Stacie was the ONLY one of the D.C. housewives I found interesting, entertaining and likeable. The Salahis were, as noted above, a one-trick pony-all about ingratiating themselves into some type of photo opportunity with anyone who had any type of celebrity whatsoever. The Brit, Cat, was the English version of a mean girl. The other housewives were so boring I’ve forgotten their names and story lines. I do agree Stacie would be a welcomed addition to HGTV in some capacity.

As for the Miami RH show, I live in Florida and it was only for that reason I gave the show a trial run. After a few episodes I realized it added nothing to my television viewing enjoyment and turned it off.

  26. Great to hear an update on Stacie. Especially that she now has this relationship with her biological father and surely extended relatives. I really enjoyed (most) of D.C. Glad she is still friends with Cat and that Cat is doing well in business/charity work. I think most of those ladies were just too normal and classy for Bravo. And, there’s nothing wrong with that! ;)

  27. @25 Tigi I also think that Stacie was interesting, entertaining, & likable. I hope she gets her own show. Would watch for sure. @SAMRA agree, about needing people like her & think shed really do well havin a shoe w/HGTV.

@Tidgi Cat is a mean girl. you remember how Michaele went to a party for the Democratic party & true to herself was wearing a pink dress w/ high heals. Cat tore her apart – what she wore & her blond hair. Cracked me up: one time Cat came on watch what happens live. This was after all the show cancellation stuff. She looked like she wanted to be Michaele or at leaset look like her… Wearing a bright pink dress, similar heels, & sporting a much blonder, similar hair style. Pathetic, catty, mean, & I question that she ever liked Sracie. She sure didn’t act like she liked her.

Stacie is still my favorite housewife; she is probably the reason I liked the show in the first place. I would watch a real estate show with Stacie on the cast…….especially if it were a show focusing on buying/selling historic homes.

I think Stacie is AWESOME!!!….. Extremely likeable!! Would love to see her with a real estate show.

No, I didn’t appreciate Stacey at all and do not miss her or that particular Housewives franchise. However, it would be quite enjoyable to see Cat at an event with the pompous Countess and loud mouthed Ramona as a guest on NYC Housewives. Make it happen Bravo!

  31. She looks good!

  32. 32
    Alli-one of them

Would like seeing Stacie on a HGTV show. Sracie was the best one on the series. Friends w/Cat still? Why? She was mean, usually, to Stacies acquaintances. When Stacie invites her to a cooking thing- she’s rude, when Stacie has her over w/her family- she’s rude (although i bet stressed, also being w/a jerk- they both cheated on their spouses though?), & when she has her over again – she’s rude to her friend.

  33. She was one of my favorites. Entire season of RHODC was a “Goat Rodeo!”

  34. The Ratings were Crap, or they’d still be on..LOL….only reason there were any Ratings @ all was cuz of the Salamis’….hahaha…LOL…liked her too, up to a point….that point being when they SETUP the Salamzzz @ their ABODE…then their TRUE colors came out…lol…

  35. I wish that the DC housewives would come back! What I can’t believe is that Miami is coming back……

I like Stacie and Jason. Hope they show the saga of finding and meeting her birth family.

  37. @35 Dorothy – Agreed, just because the Salahi’s were nuts, don’t throw out the baby with the bath water! I would love to see it back on. I want to see Cat in action.

  38. Stacie is a beautiful woman. I’d love to see her on a Real Estate based show (hello bravo, are u listening?) instead of Patti Stanger give Stacie a show, or add her to one of them (MDL)

  39. I have been a housewives fan since the beginning and I thought D.C. was not boring at all. If anything, it was too smart for the new housewife fan who wants drama. I can’t even watch NJ anymore. Stopped long ago. D.C. had real issues and conversations. The housewife franchise has been ruined with all of the drama. I would love to see it come back with everyone but Michaele. I loved all the women.

  40. #23 Dog food. I agree 100% with your comment. Enough with the fighting. Why can’t BRAVO recognize that the drama ruins the show.

  41. 41
    Oh_Yes_Boo

@h You are so right about people calling them boring. I enjoyed them I watched every episode. It was a bit tame but there was enough drama to suffice. I understand Bravo though they want what the people watch the most. I think it could have survived post-Salahi with the right casting but I don’t work for Bravo. I agree with Stacie as far the show being cancelled because of ratings because Miami’s are piss poor. Way worse then D.C. they had more then a million viewers per episode. It peaked at 1.6 which I wouldn’t consider bad I have seen shows survive with less. Miami peaked at 1.3 and the reunion was an epic fail 0.7 is atrocious for housewife ratings. If Miami can be tweaked so could D.C. IMO.

She is a really beautiful woman! She’s too good for the likes of Bravo. Give her a legit show!!

What do you need money now Stacie….never cared for this phoney woman.,..She is looking for fame again not going to happen. go away bye bye

  44. LOVE STACIE!!!! GIVE HER A SHOW!!

  45. I live in DC and was surprised that RHO DC was sooo boring. There are so many fun, exciting, interesting things I know about DC that would have been amazing to bring to light. I think it was also bad casting. Many blogged about their disappointments as well. In my opinion, if it weren’t for the Salahi’s, what would there have been to keep anyone’s attention? No excitement at all. I guess that’s why the other Housewives do so well, it’s all the drama they bring.

  46. Fantastic decision by Bravo to put a halt to the DC housewives and the Miami housewives. I’ve seen them on interviews and bitter is their middle name.
