Bravo Confirms Real Housewives of DC Is Canceled, Housewives React

The Real Housewives of DC
It’s a wrap… officially.

Two weeks after RadarOnline first broke the news, Bravo has now confirmed the Real Housewives of DC has been canceled, making this the first time ever the network has canceled a housewives franchise.

“We had an amazing season and we told stories that were unique to any other in the franchise,” Bravo’s Andy Cohen told the Washington Post on Thursday. “I wish all our DC Wives the best and hope to work with them again in another capacity.”

Below are some reactions from the DC Housewives -

Stacie Turner – “The past 18 months has truly been an amazing adventure! Thanks so much for your support. The best is yet to come…….” she tweeted.

Mary Amons – “Bittersweet day, memorable fun ride w/ @catommanney @THErealLyndaDC @stacieturnerdc & the Bravo family! Exciting projects ahead! #staytuned,” tweeted Mary.

Lynda Erkiletian – “we are too dignified ! LOL ..its not a bad thing! Xo L,” she tweeted.

Cat Ommaney – “So the milk was spilt, and we cried over it..(meow meow) and then the next show..mmm well thats going to be ‘creme de la creme’!!..” tweeted Cat.

As for Michaele Salahi, she promises her next project will be “wild and entertaining,” perhaps referring to her upcoming appearance on Celebrity Rehab.

While the DC Housewives averaged decent ratings, 1.4 million viewers, it didn’t quite compare to its counterparts, for example the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills which averaged over 2 million viewers for its freshman season. It seems the final straw for Bravo was the report that the DC Housewives had banded together and refused to do the show if the controversial Michaele was allowed back on by the network which wanted her to return.

Michaele also spoke to PEOPLE, confirming that her castmates did indeed want her off the show. “I sort of knew this was going to happen,” Michaele tells PEOPLE. “The other women didn’t want me back on the show, and [Bravo executive] Andy [Cohen] stood his ground and said there wouldn’t be a show without me on it. I’m grateful to him for that.”

This cancellation of the DC housewives could also spell trouble for the Real Housewives of Miami, which averaged a poor 1.1 million viewers this season.

Boring bitches and all they talk about is politics and race. I can watch the damn news for that BS. Get over yourselves for chrise sakes!

  2. Hip-hip hoo-ray!!!! I wasn’t planning on tuning in again to see Stacie Turner the brown-nose who wore her bi-racial ethnicity like a Herve Leger. Ugh!!Did she think that she would be better received by white viewers? Who cares!! She looked African American, she was raised by a wonderful Africa American family–who cares. She was boring and her life isn’t very interesting, so she used it to her advantage. Cat is a pompous racist whose husband shouldn’t have married her to begin with. She tried to make a mockery of Obama’s administration at BRAVO’s expense and she’s where she needs to be: off camera. Mary desperately tried to be something that she’s clearly not. She should focus on being a mother before her children become celebu-spawn statistics. Lynda should focus on keeping her man happy because she isn’t getting any younger. Lastly Michaele, made the right move by doing Celebrity Rehab. She’s an habitual liar. Farewell RHODC. It was a terrible run.

  3. @52…very well said! Applause!

I don’t know, I really liked seeing a group of women that talked about things other then themselves, even if I didn’t always agree with each of their personal politics. And I enjoyed the lack of in fighting from the other 4 ladies. I respect that they took a stand at the cost of being cancelled. To me that proves they are classy and not as desperate to be on tv as the other housewives. And it was that quality that made them refreshing. I hope they can get a project going with a different network that could greater appreciate and capitalize on their distinct but albeit valuable difference.

  6. Good on you Bravo! The DC women were too political and racist. Now dump the Miami group…I only watched half of the first episode and could not stomach it so I never watched it again..

  7. What a shame. Bad decision. The only person that should have been kicked off is Michaele. Everything out of her mouth is a lie and to allow her and her husband back reflect poor judgment on behalf of the executives at Brovo. DC is a very political city and It was refreshing to see ladies that were able to talk about something other that botox and plastic surgery. With all the powerful women in DC, it should have been easy to get a replacement for Michele. It was clear throughout the season Michaele lacked creditability. I am really disappointed.

  8. Bravo never should have been OK with the White House crashing. I refused to watch DC because of it and I know a lot of my friends felt the same.

It had to go. DC is filled with exciting people of color, yet Bravo added one black chic to the ensemble??? That pretty much sealed D C’s fate late for a lot of its minority viewers. I know I for one, was a bit Po’d when I saw just one black chic on the show….I was thinking finally when it was announced they were doing a DC segment, I was thinking finally we’d get to see black women in a better light, than that ATL mess.

  10. Thank the heavens that I don’t have to watch racist Stacey anymore! She drove me crazy with all her black this and white that. I laughed my ass off when she found out she had a white mother-that must of burned her up! LOL……that will teach her. How did she think she got such light skin?
Linda was also disgusting and Cat took a 3rd as biggest biyatch!

I loved this show!! WithOUT Michaele for sure. She and he husband are such fake, fake people – she doesn’t even have MS – like most everyone suspected. Kicked off Celebrety Rehab b’cause her only additction is….chocolate, per the Doctor!!!

These women on the new shows, DC & Miami have watched too many of the other House Wives shows……they are guarded and play to the camera too much. It is also obvious that they have pre-planned so much of what they say and do. Both shows were painful to watch. Glad DC is gone. Hope Miami will be too.

  13. I liked the show compared to Miami.

I liked the show. I’m tired of seeing East Coast women drink & brawl. These women with the exception of Ms Sallopie, behaved with intelligence and class. I am very disappointed in Bravo’s decision to cancel. I think a 2nd season without the Salahis would have found their audience. Some of us are actually interested in something besides big boobs and big mouths!

  16. I liked the everyone on the show, except for Cat Ommanny, who was rude and a bitch to everyone (including her husband) but then acted all hurt when anyone called her on it. Lynda was my next least favorite, always preaching to everyone, pushing her political views. Michaele and Stacie were my favorite. Polar opposites, but the most interesting. Mary was a scatterbrained snooze.

  17. They White House crashers is what ruined it for everyone. I read that a lot of people (self included) refused to watch the show if Bravo rewarded them by giving them a spot on a successful RH franchise. I guess this time what the fans thought mattered. Should have listed to us in the first place!

  18. DC was my fav installment of the housewives. Except of course the habitual lairs. I liked the fact they wanted to promote their chartities. A second season would have told if the show was going to their heads as it can be seen with the other wives. It’s really time for all to be shut down expecially Miami, I could only watch the premier of that one.

There was no meat to the show, no substance. An odd group of women with no one personality standing out that viewers could like. Andy made a mistake wanting to keep Salami. He could have recast a little and beefed it up. Cat was also a miscast. She didn’t seem to really like this country or it’s people. Bye Bye boring ladies.

  20. Oh man, this one had the potential to be THE BEST of the Housewives series. Shouldn’t they have let it go another season?

  21. DC was the only Housewives show I watched. They have class the other shows don’t. I’m very disappointed in the cancellation and the reasons given for it. Say farewell to the Salahi’s. You don’t need smut to sell this show!

  22. Good. Cat was too obnoxious. I tried to like her but she was terrible.
