Will Season 19 Be Cheryl Burke’s Last On Dancing With The Stars?

Dancing with the Stars Cheryl Burke last season

ABC kicked off Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars last night. Despite my ho-hum reaction to the “stars” cast, I enjoyed the show. I especially enjoyed a peek of Maks Chmerkovskiy in the audience. 😉

Some seasons, like this one, the only reason I turn on the premiere is to see my favorite pros dance. Luckily I always find a star or two to root for along the way. But my interest fades a little bit each time one of the pros I like to watch – Anna Trebunskaya, Tristan MacManus, Chelsie Hightower, Kym Johnson, and Maks come to mind – leaves the show.

Now it sounds like I will have one less reason to tune in to Season 20. Another one of my favorite pros, Cheryl Burke, recently announced that Season 19 will probably be her last on Dancing with the Stars

“As of now, this is probably going to be my last season,” Cheryl announced on Good Morning America. “I started when I was 20. I’m 30. I feel like I just want to try new things and just see what’s out there.”

Cheryl joined Dancing with the Stars in Season 2. She’s won twice, with Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith, placed second twice, with Gilles Marini and Rob Kardashian, and placed third three times, with Cristian de la Fuente, William Levy, and Jack Osbourne.

Cheryl is dancing with Antonio Sabato Jr this season. She gushed over his good looks, but he’s unfortunately not as easy on his feet as he is on our eyes. Cheryl is a good teacher, but I don’t expect Antonio to make it to the finals.

Last night, Tommy Chong (who danced to Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot”) was extremely entertaining, Sadie Robertson and Lea Thompson did well, and Alfonso Ribeiro was the best by far. It was obvious Alfonso was in a completely different league as soon as he started to move.

My guess is that Michael WaltripBetsey Johnson, and Lolo Jones will be in jeopardy on tonight’s elimination show. Although I wouldn’t be surprised to see Antonio as a “shock” elimination. If I could pick who to boot, I’d send Lolo Jones and stank attitude home.
