This morning on Good Morning America, ABC announced the twelve pro dancers who will compete on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars. Why? I have no idea!! We already knew Maks Chmerkovskiy and Tristan MacManus won’t be decorating our TV screens this fall, so what’s the point?
I’m kidding, but in all seriousness, I’m willing to bet most fans of DWTS are more interested in the celebrity side of the cast. Never-the-less, here’s the list:
Dancing with the Stars season 19 will feature returning pros, Derek Hough, Karina Smirnoff, Tony Dovolani, Peta Murgatroyd, Witney Carson, Mark Ballas, Cheryl Burke, Emma Slater, and Val Chmerkovskiy, and new pros, Artem Chigvintsev, Allison Holker, and Keoikantse Motsepe.

Notably missing from the list are reigning champion Maks Chmerkovskiy, who wants to be a judge, my all-time favorite Tristan MacManus, who bid farewell to DWTS after being dropped at the very last second last season, and Sharna Burgess, who placed fifth with Charlie White last season.
I, for one, have grown tired of Derek (and his rule breaking ego) and Mark (and his ridiculous over dancing). Oh well. At least I still have Val – and I would be over the moon if Maks scored a seat at the judges’ table. Preferably rambly Carrie Ann‘s seat. 😉
As for the newbies, Artem was a pro dancer on the UK version of DWTS and a finalist on So You Think You Can Dance. He joined the US dance troupe last season and his abs made an impression on fans. Allison, an Emmy nominated dancer/choreographer and a So You Think You Can Dance all-star, has worked with DWTS in the past as a choreographer. Keo has earned every national title in South Africa and starred in the Burn The Floor world tour.
Season 19 of Dancing with the Stars kicks off September 15 on ABC. The celebrity cast will be revealed September 4 on Good Morning America.
