Last night on the season premiere ofReal Housewives of Miami, Bravo tried to make lemons out of lemonade by teasing us with a fancypants literary reference and dangling feuds and jealousy in our faces. Aaaah, a Tale Of Two Miamis it is not – at least not yet. No, it was more like a tale of bored Housewives doing what they do best: show off, bicker, drink, and surgically alter themselves. Keep on being you, senoritas!
Alas, things begin with a kicky opening montage of the new girls describing how Old Miami is a thing of the past (you think?) and new Miami is all them. Thus far, Old Miami looks a lot like New Miami and New Miami seems like they want to be Old Miami – if that makes sense. We jump into things by meeting the new girls and checking in with the old ones. And up first is Marysol Patton and and oldest of th Miami bunch, Mama Elsa.
Marysol had a tumultuous year. Unfortunately she separated from her husband Philippe (whom we saw her getting married to on a mountain in Aspen) and he has since moved out. So… storyline wedding? Or storyline divorce? Anyway, Mama Elsa thinks it's for the best. In other Marysol updates, she has been seeing a new psychic behind Mama's back and that psychic saw her RHOM contract and informed her she would be meeting a whole bunch of new girls that would cause drama. Gee.. I think I would ask for a REFUND.
Real Housewives of Miami is kicking things off tonight! Following a supremely lackluster response to the first season, a complete cast overhaul happened to spice things up.
Well, apparently it worked! The ladies are making the rounds to promote the show and they promise it is very, very dramatic and fans will not be disappointed. I'm slightly afraid by that proclamation. I sometimes like boring. I know, I know…
Anyway, season one survivor Lea Black vows this season is a totally new ball game. "I think a lot's different," she told the Today Show. "I think the mix of the new girls has made it hot, spicy, wild, crazy, fun and … a few other things have gone on."
And just what "other things" have gone on? Oh, you know the usual Housewives antics. "More drama than ever," Lea revealed, playing coy. "And it heats up as the season progresses."
We're just two days away from the premiere of season 2 of The Real Housewives of Miami! The cast and other celebs kicked things off with a Season 2 VIP Launch Party held at The Forge Restaurant in Miami Beach, Florida last night.
Bravo is doing everything in its power to redeem the lackluster Real Housewives of Miami, which was a complete dud until the live reunion aired on WWHL. In fact, one could probably credit firecracker Adriana de Moura going head-to-head with former castmates Larsa Pippen and Christy Rice at that reunion for the network’s decision to bring back the floundering series.
Adriana is speaking out about what went wrong last year and explaining why this year will be a whole lot more action-packed. If that doesn’t smell of fabricated drama, I don’t know what does!
Adriana confirms the second season has been filming for a couple of weeks now and with a new production company things are going to be much spicier! “I always knew we would come back. Miami is such a destination that everyone wants to be a part of. We just needed the right elements to make it right. I knew given the right direction, right people and support, it was going to be a home run,” The ever-confident Adriana tells the NewTimes Miami. “I think we are in for the best season yet.”
As for why last season was as bland as can be, she blames two factors (ahem… Christ and Larsa). “I don’t want to point fingers. I think there were two people that ruined our chemistry. When people are dampers, it’s hard to make things happen. They affected the whole season.”
Adriana is well aware that her “performance” at the live reunion was the high point of the dismal season of Larsa talking about her nannies and she isn’t afraid to take credit where credit is due! “I am as real as they come. At the reunion, I was just fed up,” she explains.
“People just sat around, criticized and just brought the whole season down. I don’t deal with that whole mean girl, high school attitude. If you are going to criticize, at least bring it.”
One way Bravo is amping up the new season is by adding new castmates. Adriana confirms there are new additions. “We have a handful of new girls. Let’s say, more than two, less than five,” she teases. “We had half of Miami trying to get on this show after season one. I am proud to be a part of it.”
Rumors have already circulated that Joanna Krupa and Lisa Hochstein will join the cast after they were spotted filming scenes for the series. And now, rumors are circulating that Karent Sierra will be added!
Karent is a model, actress, spokesperson and… a dentist! Has there ever been a doctor among the Housewives? According to the Miami Herald, Dr. Karent Sierra–a Colgate Spokesperson who has a passion for being in the public eye–will be joining the ladies, and she is all about proving that she isn’t a famewhore with a low IQ! I guess she did make it through dental school…
Karent is also not a housewife! The dentist to the stars who boasts an impressive clientele among the Miami élite, is still very single, although she has been linked to actor Rodolfo Jimenez. Karent will be joining the line-up with her BFF (think a Lawrence Washington) who will be her partner in crime this season, Miami party-animal and nightlife regular Beau Beasley; who was spotted out with her Saturday night where she dished about joining the cast!
Interestingly, Karent already confirms she was put to the test in some pretend drama when the other ladies gave her the third degree over joining the show for the wrong reasons. Um… why else would anyone join a reality show if they weren’t, you know, interested in being in the public eye. Apparently the fact that Karent came into things with a publicist and is a doctor didn’t sit well with the other girls.
Karent, a former beauty queen who was a first runner-up in the 1993 Miss Florida USA pageant, isn’t worried about it though – she claims she has no plans to get into a trashy altercation and instead will “just kill ‘em with kindness!” We’ll see about that… Further confirming that Karent is joining the cast is a photo of her with the ladies of RHOM at the Southbeach Wine & Food Festival last month. A photo of Dr. Karent Sierra is below!

No word yet on why Alexia is out – perhaps it has to do with her 13-year-old son Frankie who suffered a very serious car accident last summer that left him hospitalized for months. Alexia had previously stated she did not wish to have Frankie’s recovery and rehabilitation filmed for the series. Bravo also confirmed production on the new season is set to begin this month.

According to a new report, the Bravo network is gearing up to officially announce that the Real Housewives of Miami has been renewed for a second season!
This news is not much of a surprise as cast member Adriana De Mourapretty much confirmed it last November. The Hollywood Reporter states that Bravo is also cleaning house behind the scenes, as the network has called in the big guns–production company Purveyors of Pop–to produce the new season.
Purveyors of Pop is the same company behind Bravo’s more successful Atlanta, New Jersey, and New York Housewives franchises, as well as Bethenny Ever After.
THR also confirms what Adriana stated, which is that not all of the season 1 cast members will be coming back. While THR doesn’t confirm who will be getting the boot, Adriana has revealed both Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice will not be returning.
Indeed, a new report by the Miami Herald today states Bravo has already cast replacements for Larsa and Cristy! And one of those new housewives is reportedly model Joanna Krupa!
That name should ring a bell as Joanna, 32, appeared on the 9th season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars. As for Joanna’s link to Miami, she is engaged to Mynt nightclub owner Romain Zago.
The second addition to the cast is said to be Lisa Hochstein, wife of plastic surgeon Dr. Lenny Hochstein of the short-lived Bravo version of Nip/Tuck called Miami Slice. Photos of Joanna and Lisa are below!
Bravo is said to be currently doing a test shoot with the new cast members. “They’re filming with these new women to see if it makes it more watchable, which compared to the first season, shouldn’t be that hard,” reveals a TV insider. Ouch! As for Bravo, they are not confirming the news simply stating: “No decision has been made on The Real Housewives of Miami.”
The Herald also adds that Mama Elsa Patton played a big role in Bravo’s decision to give Miami another chance. The first season of the series was not only lackluster, but it also tanked in ratings, too. Just how bad did the Miami housewives do, you ask? Let’s just say the now canceledReal Housewives of DC had better ratings!
I do wonder if this franchise can be salvaged – perhaps Bravo might want to consider adding more than two new housewives. Or better yet, I’m still waiting on my dream franchise aka The Real Housewives of Dallas… Sigh.

Even better, Adriana De Mouraconfirms season two is set to begin filming in a few weeks, but not without a big shake up!
In an interview with the Miami Herald, Adriana reveals season 1 cast members Larsa Pippen and Cristy Rice will NOT be returning. “Larsa and Cristy are out,’’ states Adriana. “Producers didn’t want this to go in a Basketball Wives direction. We’ll portray Miami the way it should be portrayed.’’ Ouch!
So who will be the new housewives taking their places? Adriana has no idea though she assures us almost everyone in Miami is vying to be on the show.
“It’s so funny, when we aired, everyone said, ‘Oh that show is so bad. I don’t even watch it,’ she says. “But when they were casting, all of a sudden — I’m not going to mention names — but now half of Miami wants to be in it.’’
Adriana once again defends her show and the lackluster first season. She explains the first season didn’t work because Bravo never meant for the series to become a Real Housewives franchise. Indeed, the show was originally intended to be a Miami Social knockoff, but became a Housewives franchise during the editing process.
“That’s why we had shorter episodes and all that foolishness,’’ says the optimistic Adriana. “Now we’re hoping to beat Beverly Hills!’’ Umm let’s not get ahead of ourselves now Adrie!
According to a new report by the Miami Herald, the show will likely return for a sophomore season. However it appears the Bravo network is looking to replace some of the cast members… rightfully so if I might add.
An insider reveals that Bravo has axed the show’s original producers and casting agents and is now using its own staff. In addition to that, Bravo producers are also reported to be in town this weekend to re-interview the original cast.
“Not everyone from the original cast will be back,” says the inside source. As for Bravo, they refuse to confirm or deny the story with a rep for the network stating, “We haven’t made any announcements regarding a second season.”
