If I were a method blogger, I’d have been smokin’ indo and sippin’ on gin and juice to prepare for this recap. Sadly, I have to settle for a glass of Three Buck Chuck, and the only thing smoking is leftover casserole that I burned for dinner. #Snoopfail
Last night’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta begins with Mimi Faust confronting Nikko about an article on Media Take Out that claims he’s married. She knows it can’t be true (it is, after all, Media Take Out), but she wants to be sure. Nikko doesn’t miss a beat when telling her that his marriage was a secret he planned to take to his grave. Um, what? He just wants to be honest. Mimi is too exhausted to cuss him every which way to Sunday. Nikko admits that he never planned to tell her, but he blames her for never asking him outright if he had a wife. Yeah, that’s totally Mimi’s oversight. As she storms out, he asks her to dinner. The man has some balllzzz.
Stevie J., Kirk Frost, and Tony are helping Benzino celebrate his last few moments as a single man. Going against the norm, the gentlemen decide to hit up a strip club for his bachelor party. As pole dancers make-out in Zino’s face for his amusement, he explains that he doesn’t need a pre-nup because he and The-The (I HATE that nickname) will be together forever. Benzino then announces that Stevie will be his best man. The following day, a very hungover Stevie is being yelled into consciousness by the Puerto Rican alarm clock. Joseline Hernandez can’t imagine why her husband would want to be in a wedding where he’s smashed the bride. When he tells her that he is heading to L.A. to record with Snoop Dogg, Joseline smells trouble.
VH1 has totally messed with my mind. A new episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta happened last Thursday? I am a creature of habit…Remember that, Mona Scott Young. At least the network aired it again last night so I was able to catch up with all of the crazy drama. Karlie Redd is confronting Yung Joc and his Jill of all Trades at the fashion event she’s attending with Erica Dixon. Joc doesn’t even pretend to hide the fact he’s stepping out on her (unless you count the fact that he originally told her he was going out of town), and Karlie is cussing him up one side and down the other regarding his taste in Telly-Tubbies. Can’t she come up with something more original?
Waka Flocka Flame’s mother Deb is meeting with Mimi Faust, and she’s hoping the two can be each other’s support through their current hard times. Deb has recently lost her son, and Mimi’s father has just passed away. They share their respective stories of missed communications with their loved ones. Mimi reveals to Deb that Stevie J. has been so hateful to her, and she admits that her issues with Stevie are spilling over into all aspects of her life. Mimi sobs as she realizes that her childhood turmoil mixed with Stevie’s attitude is affecting her more than she ever knew. She didn’t meet her father until she was sixteen, and even though she hates Stevie, she wants Eva to have a good relationship with her father.
Admittedly, I can’t keep up with all the story lines on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Some are definitely more juicy than others, so sometimes we’re left with a show that mixes in all the second and third tier drama…and that’s what we got last night! Mimi Faust’s father passed away, and she’s upset that she can’t grieve properly because she is too busy defending her actions to everyone. She reveals that Stevie J. sent her a text message saying “Karma is a bitch” which she received the day her father died. He is certainly a classy character.
Yung Joc and Karlie Redd are back in the studio, and back in the studio now that Karlie has gotten over Joc’s recent cheating. I’m not sure if she’s actually over it though since she continues to grill him about his actions. Whatever happened to having nothing to do with a serial cheater? Karlie feels supported by Joc since he’s pushing her career forward, and she can’t be bothered worrying about his Teletubby fling.
So, maybe Benzino wasn’t as happy as we thought about having to relive his mother’s funeral and his subsequent shooting all because Mona Scott Young didn’t have Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’s camera crew following his every move when the actual drama occurred. That would certainly explain why he’s calling out the show’s creator about yet another (yawn…) explosive and brawl-filled reunion. You’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all, right?
This season’s reunion just finished taping, and you’ll be surprised–shocked even!–to learn that Joseline Hernandez was involved in several physical altercations, including one with Benzino’s new fiancee Ho-theaAlthea. Can you believe it? You could have knocked me over with a feather when I learned that Benzino was accusing Mona of instigating all of the drama for ratings. No way! 😉
The drama was “reel” on last night’s episode of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Mimi Faust is still “reeling” from the release of her sex tape with Nikko. He’s still excited from all the people watching the film reel, so at least they are on the same page. Nikko is thrilled that they are trending on social media while Mimi is upset that her shower rod has its own Twitter handle. Of course, she doesn’t seem to be too upset laugh at memes of her co-stars mocking her video all over the Internet. Mimi is grateful for Nikko’s support throughout this ordeal. He’s such a stand-up guy. He’s hoping to start marketing his own line of shower curtain rods. Yeah, Nikko certainly didn’t plan to leak this video…
Rasheeda is back in the studio and she’s dishing with Kalenna on the state of her marriage with Tony. Kalenna reveals that she did get physical with Ashley, but she sent her friend home to work on her relationship with her husband. She also drops a bombshell…she’s pregnant. Kalenna is equal parts stressed and excited because the first time she had a child with Tony, he cheated on her, claiming he wasn’t ready to be a dad yet. Rasheeda urges her friend to break the news to Tony, but she can relate given how Kirk Frost responded to her recent baby news.
Last night it was V-Day for Mimi Faust and Nikko on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, and of course, by “V” I mean Vivid! The pair’s sex tape was released, and Mimi is beside herself as to how this will effect her daughter later in life. At least her acting is getting better!
Mimi takes Eva to Stevie J.’s so she can figure out her next move. Poor Eva doesn’t have much going for her in the parent department, but she sure is a cutie pie, and she’s good at remembering her lines! Mimi reiterates once again that she’ll be able to provide for her daughter’s future, and while it may not be the best way, it’s HER way. Stevie gives the same speech about how he’s being the best dad he can be while jumping with Eva on a jump castle. I guess jump castles trump child support…
Joseline Hernandez is channeling her energy into a boob-fueled shopping spree. She is still planning a getaway where she can whoop it up with K. Michelle. What happened to her new show? Joseline calls K. Michelle to complain about her marital woes, and K invites her to New York to forget her worries for a while. K. Michelle reminds her that New York would be a great place to make more connections for her music, but Joseline is more focused on meeting men for pleasure…not business. Don’t call it a crossover. It’s a girls’ weekend! Woo hoo!
Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta was at the top of its game last night. From Benzino acknowledging that he’s a bit neck deprived to a fight that we didn’t get to see, peppered with some of the best one-liners we’ve heard in a while. It was awesome.
The episode starts with Kalennaand Ashley tearing it up at the strip club. Of course it does. Kalenna has been shirking her recording duties, but Ashley’s getting super possessive about Kalenna focusing on anything other than her. Ashley has even stolen Kalenna’s phone so her husband can’t contact her. When Ashley finally allows Kalenna to call Tony, she’s over their fun times. Kalenna needs to get back in the studio. Also focusing on her career is Tammy Rivera who is hosting a fashion presentation to celebrate the launch of her new clothing line. Both Rasheeda Frost and KarlieRedd are in attendance, and WakaFlocka Flame couldn’t be more proud of his fiancee. I so wish he got more air time! While we aren’t treated to many of her pieces, what I see I really like. Tammy even agrees to elope with Waka instead of having a big wedding.
I am really in total shock after last night's Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta! Benzino was shot? On the way to his mother's funeral? I was certainly not expecting that to happen. Oh wait. Of course, I knew that the horrible incident occurred, but I was admittedly surprised that it was covered on the show–as if Mona knew it was going to happen all along. I wonder how much all the re-shoots and additional scenes cost the network in production. Anyone care to make a wager? I did notice that Benzino's injured arm must be recovering well because in the slow motion scene where he's running to his car because he's carrying his luggage with it. That part had to have been filmed after the fact, right?
Karlie Redd and Erica Dixon are catching up over manicures, and Erica reveals that she kicked O'Shea to the curb…literally. He just had to stand on the curb and whine since his car was out of gas. She was tired of being his piggy bank. The women gossip about all of Althea's conquests. Erica dishes that Ho-thea had a night with Stevie J., and Karlie is laughing because she was also with Mimi Faust's Nikko. There seems to be a lot of cross pollinating going on with this crew. Karlie can't wait to share the news withJoseline Hernandez. That's what friends are for! I think all of these ladies need to broaden their romantic horizons. Certainly Stevie, 'Zino, and Nikko aren't the only players in Atlanta!
