While Nicole and Steve’s firings are not much of a surprise, Paula’s firing is a major shocker as Simon personally recruited her to be on the show after she was let go from American Idol.
Sources reveal Paula got the bad news yesterday and has yet to hear from Simon. Simon has reportedly yet to find replacements for Paula, Nicole and Steve.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Simon, who helped create the show, recently assembled the show’s creative team for a top secret meeting in the UK. The reason for the meeting was reportedly to analyze “what went wrong and what was done right on season one.”
There are reports that Simon is wanting to move in the direction of NBC’s The Voice by adding bigger name judges as a way to boost ratings. The Voice, which returns on February 6, features judges Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
For the time being it appears judge L.A. Reidwill not be let go.

Fans of The X Factor are still outraged following last week’s shocking elimination which sent teen favorite Rachel Crow packing!
Judge Nicole Scherzinger felt the most criticism as her decision to allow a voting deadlock when she eliminated Rachel over Marcus Canty ultimately sent Rachel packing.
See, after Rachel and Marcus — who were in the Bottom two last Thursday — sang their last chance songs, judge L.A. Reid picked Rachel to go home. Simon Cowelland Paula Abdul then voted off Marcus. This left the last and deciding vote to Nicole. Nicole, who perhaps failed to realize her duties as a judge, then stated she didn’t want to be the deciding vote and picked Rachel to send the vote into a deadlock.
Unfortunately for 13-year-old Rachel, she ended up having the least amount of votes by the public, and was sent packing. Fans of the show were livid with Nicole for her indecisiveness, that is until TMZ posted a story stating Paula was the one who told Nicole to vote off Rachel.
In a video clip obtained by TMZ, Paula can be heared whispering to Nicole, “Just let it go to a deadlock.” Which is exactly what Nicole did.
Paula is now defending herself, stating her comments were taken out of context during her Monday night appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show alongside Nicole and the other judges. Though I’m not quite sure how “just let it go to a deadlock” could be taken out of context.
“That’s how they interpreted it,” said Paula of TMZ’s spin on the video footage. “I adore [Nicole] and know what she was feeling like [having to send someone home.]” Nicole added, “In the moment and under pressure, it’s not as easy to say ‘you’re going home.’ I own the decision I made right then.”
As for Rachel, things are looking up for the teen with TMZ reporting Disney is now looking to sign her… and have already set up a meeting to go through a list of opportunities including TV, movies and radio.
Meanwhile, Rachel’s breakdown upon hearing she was eliminated from the show (she started brawling and fell to the ground) now has people questioning whether the show needs to raise its age limit as the younger ones are simply unable to deal with the public scrutiny. Another example of this was 15-year-old Astro’s meltdown a while back upon being told he was in the bottom 2. He first refused to perform before ultimately apologizing.

TELL US – SHOULD RACHEL HAVE WENT HOME? IS PAULA OR NICOLE TO BLAME? DOES THE AGE LIMIT NEED TO BE RAISED?
“This show would never have been the same without Paula and I can’t believe I am saying this, [but] I have missed her a lot, and I am thrilled she’s on the show,” Simon, 51, said in a statement Sunday afternoon about reuniting with Paula, 48, after judging with her on American Idol.
Paula also expressed her excitement at having a job again doing the show. “I am excited beyond words to be a part of The X Factor,” said Paula. “I couldn’t be happier to bring my love for cultivating talent and performance to such a wildly anticipated show.”
And despite the rumors thatNicole Scherzinger would be a judge on the show, it was announced yesterday that she will co-host the new series with British TV personality Steve Jones.
X-Factor began its first round of auditions in Los Angeles yesterday and is scheduled to debut in September. Joining Paula and Simon on the judging panel are British singer Cheryl Cole and former Def Jam president L.A. Reid. Simon announced months ago that the winner of the competition will receive an astonishing $5 million recording deal!

TELL US – ARE YOU EXCITED TO SEE PAULA RETURN TO TV? THOUGHTS ON THE X-FACTOR SHOW & JUDGING PANEL?
Following two major commercials on Sunday’s Superbowl, Simon Cowell is now revealing more details about the upcoming reality show – The X Factor (the American version).
While the full list of judges has yet to be selected, Simon does confirm he will be a judge on the show. “Once the show goes into production, I become a judge,” Simon told reporters Monday. “Then I have to put my trust into the producers’ hands, which is effectively how it works in the U.K. Yes, I am judging.”
Simon will also serve as an executive producer on the show, while helping in the selection of the judging panel. Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Simpson, Paula Abdul, Rihanna, Cheryl Cole, Katy Perry and Will Smith are just some of the names that have been rumored as possible judges on the show.
So should we expect a nicer Simon on this new show? “I am gong to try and be consistent, as I have been over the years … People know what to expect if I’m on the judging panel. I don’t think things will change too much,” he said. We’ll take that as a no.
As for Simon’s thoughts or critique rather on the current and 10th season of American Idol, Simon reveals he is not an avid watcher. “I haven’t seen a full episode. I’ve seen three minutes of a recap. From what I’ve seen and from what I’ve heard, it all seems to be going well.”
According to Simon, he is hoping to make the announcement of the judges in three to four weeks. The winner of X Factor will also be awarded a $5 million record deal, in what is being called the largest guaranteed prize in TV history.
TELL US – ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO X-FACTOR? HAVING SIMON BACK ON TV?
One person who believes the answer to that is yes is none other than her fellow DWTS cast-mate Niecy Nash. “I like to see the growth,” says the comedian to PEOPLE. “Nicole today is who she was when she got here — she was a great dancer and she still is.”
Nicole, who beat out Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek and ESPN reporter Erin Andrews, was the favorite from day one, and many fans, including Niecy, feel the show is quickly losing sight of its original premise, which was to take celebrities out of their comfort zone and onto the ballroom floor.
“There were moments you couldn’t tell her from the pro dancers,” says Niecy of Nicole, who received high praises from the judges, even being called the best dancer the show has ever seen by Carie Ann.
“Dancing With the Stars is something that resonates with me when the contestants have a journey. I was such a big fan of Kelly Osbourne last year because she had the most transformation,” continues Niecy. “I cheer for the people who have evolved. To me, that’s what the competition should be.”
TELL US: DOES NIECY HAVE A POINT? DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH NIECY?
The two hour finale show aired last night and ESPN reporter Erin Andrews was announced the third runner up, leaving Evan Lysacek and Nicole to battle it out for the mirror ball trophy.
Nicole’s win isn’t much of a surprise as the Pussycat doll is a professional dancer who dances and sings for a living. Whether or not Nicole being in the amateur ballroom dance competition remains a debate, but when all it said and done, Nicole was consistently the best dancer this season. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba even declared her the best dancer ever in DWTS history.
“I’m going to give it to my mom because she’s the reason I really did this show,” the Pussycat Doll, 31, told UsWeekly after the show. “This is for her!”
Nicole, and the rest of the finalists flew to NYC this morning and appeared on Good Morning America. The finale show however wasn’t without controversy as Kate Gosselin returned to torture the viewers with a final dance performance. Unfortunately for Kate, taking time away from the show did not improve her dancing skills. She however seemed to have more fun this go around.
ABC also announced the 11th season of DWTS will premiere September 20th. It will be interesting to see how they attempt to top this pretty phenomenal 10th season.
My thoughts on Nicole winning – Not a big shocker, she did deserve to win because she was the best dancer after all. Do I think she had an unfair advantage? Of course she did, she dances for a living. Having Nicole in the competition would be similar to having a top College basketball player play in an amateur celebrity basketball tournament. Yes Nicole has no ballroom dance experience, but let’s be real, being a pro dancer helped her tremendously and she was earning 10s in early weeks for a reason. The fact is none of the other competitors really stood a chance. I’m conflicted on this because while it is fun to watch the Nicoles and Evans give amazing performances, the show should really be about the Ochocincos and Erins, and about their journeys in improving week to week. And yes Erin was on a dance team in college, but being on a cheerleading dance team over a decade ago while in college doesn’t really compare to being a Pussycat doll.
TELL US – ARE YOU HAPPY NICOLE WON? IS IT FAIR TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL DANCERS ON THE SHOW?
This has been the most talked about season of DWTS and perhaps for the first time in DWTS history, it seemed the best three really did make it to the finals.
Despite being the underdog of the final three, it seems ESPN reporter Erin Andrews might just be able to pull off an upset as she tied for first place with Pussycat doll Nicole Scherzinger. They both scored a total of 55 points. Olympic skater Evan Lysacek didn’t fair so well as he finished third with a total of 52 points.
The most talked about dance of the night went to Erin and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy . The pair did their hot & steamy freestyle dance using a bed and a couch as props. Maksim’s comments about the dance during the pair’s rehearsal might be a hint as to the status of their off screen relationship. “Our freestyle is very passionate. It’s very emotional. And in a way, I think it will tell the story of Erin and I,” said Maksim. And in case you’re still wondering about the duo’s relationship status, the two were spotted kissing just over a week ago.
But overall, the theme of the night seemed to be the errors made by front runners Nicole and Evan. Nicole had two slip ups in both of her dances, while Evan’s freestyle dance failed to impress the judges, earning him a mere 24 points.
The winner will be declared tonight during the 2 hour finale show. All of the eliminated stars will return for a final dance, and yes that includes the controversial Kate Gosselin. And speaking of Kate, a new report by Popeater reveals the mom of eight earned an astonishing $500,000 for her five week appearance on DWTS.
