UPDATE: RHOA’s Peter Thomas On Trial For Alleged Assault On A Woman, See Mugshots

Cynthia Bailey and Peter Thomas

According to a report that came out yesterday, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Peter Thomas is currently on trial for assaulting a woman in Atlanta.

The gossip website MediaTakeOut broke the story offering no proof but the word of a source who told them Peter, husband of Cynthia Bailey, is currently going through a bench trial (a trial held before a judge sitting without a jury) for assaulting a former female employee named Tamela at his now closed Uptown Club.

While no major media outlets seem to have confirmed this news, Reality Tea did uncover two mugshots of Peter, both stemming from recent arrests for battery.

The first mugshot came from a 2008 arrest in which Peter was arrested for Simple Battery. He was released the same day after posting $1,000 bond. The second arrest came a year later on December 3, 2009 when he was once again arrested in Atlanta on two different charges – Simple Battery and Battery with visible harm. He was released the same day after posting $2,000 bond. It’s likely the later charge is the one he is on trial for.

The sources add that Peter will likely be convicted and locked up for a year. As of the moment, neither Peter or Cynthia have yet to respond to the story.

This newly uncovered arrest records might be one of the reasons Cynthia’s family was so against her wedding to Peter last year. If you recall, Cynthia’s mom and sister spent most of her wedding day crying and trying to talk her out of it.

UPDATE – Peter spoke to the Sister2Sister blog and acknowledged he was on trial on Monday but states he was found not guilty. He denies hitting his former female employee and states she was “acting up in his restaurant and throwing plates.” Peter states after asking her to leave, he returned about 30 minutes later and was accused of pushing her. Peter said she slipped and the former employees who testified on his behalf backed his story.
