This season of Real Housewives of New York will be a battle of The Veterans vs. The Virgins. It’s a classic case of make new friends, but keep the old (one is silver and the other’s gold…). Bravo has released the official cast photos and bios – along with the very juicy and drunken trailer. It seems like some of these ladies are harkening back to the days before middle age hit them, as they are putting the drinks away like MTV spring breakers! Or Bachelorettes on another popular show!
The official press release warns us: “The city that never sleeps is about to get a real embarrassment wake up call. Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer welcome Aviva Drescher, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson as they navigate their hectic lifestyles of jam-packed social climbing social calendars, bickering and fighting careers, behaving like children and drunken antics across the globe city living.” Oh, I just can’t wait for the wine-soaked fun and pinot-filled outbursts!

And speaking of Pinot, it seems my favorite train wreck and yours, Pinot Singer, caused quite the problems this season! The trailer features newbie Aviva proving she’s perfect for this line of work, as she calls her “white trash!” Bwhahahahahaha! Seriously – I laughed for five minutes when I saw that. Sometimes the truth hurts!
Aviva is speaking to the NY Observer about the shocking new season! Aviva describes the experience of reality television, and being forced to socialize intimately with women she scarcely knew. “It was like an sociological study: we were essentially forced to make the kind of friends over the course of four months that would usually take you four years to become that close to.”
She also adds that her friendship with Ramona is pretty much kaput. She says the show – and specifically the “white trash” scene, made her realize that “friendships can certainly take up and downs,” Aviva explained. “And in that way the show—art, in quotation marks—imitated life. Ramona and I did not start out that way.”
Aviva mentions that she began the season friends with Ramona, “and…well…I can’t say the same for the end of the season.” Wow! You can learn more about Aviva below!
Pinot, herself, is speaking out about the drama amongst her castmates. At the recent Bravo Upfront Event she confirmed things are already rocky as she tells Wetpaint “There’s one woman here I’m not even talking to!” When pressed for details about whom, she gave the Bravo PR sponsored answer like a good little Housewife. “If you watch this season, it won’t be hard to figure out,” she assured us.
In fact, things start to go bad in the season premiere episode! From the press release: “Sonja kicks things off with a party to mingle with Aviva, Carole and Heather. They all seem to hit it off …until Ramona arrives. And as they say, with new friends come new revelations — in this case, Aviva learns that a couple of her “new” friends have had relations with her ex-husband. Meanwhile, Heather and Carole try to figure out who to trust and not.” Wowzers!

THE NEWBIES:
Heather Thomson – The married mother of two is also successful business woman and the creator of Yummie by Heather Thomson, a popular shapewear line. She is also a successful designer and stylist, who has worked for fifteen years with some of the biggest names in the entertainment business – including Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez! In addition to all of that, she is a philanthropist who supports Kellner Family Pediatric Liver Disease Foundation and City of Hope.
Carole Radziwill – Carole is a best-selling author and journalist who worked for many years for ABC News. Her work with Peter Jennings’ documentary unit and the news shows PrimeTime Live and 20/20 won her three EMMY awards, a Robert F. Kennedy Humanitarian award, and a GLADD award. In 2003, wrote her first book about her husband Anthony Radziwill‘s battle with cancer. What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship and Love spent over 12 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller List. She followed that up with her memoir, Widow’s Guide to Sex and Dating. She lives in the West Village where she is writing her first novel. Her husband was the son of Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis’ sister Lee Radziwill. Here’s hoping she’ll roll out some Kennedy memorabilia!
Aviva Drescher – Born and bred in NYC ( a first for the series!), Aviva, a mother of four, is a NYC socialite cliché as she is married to an investment banker. Aviva had a tragic farm accident at aged six which resulted in the loss of her left leg – but that doesn’t stop her from wearing heels – even at 5″10! The former lawyer is now a full-time mother, part-time philanthropist. She resides on the Upper East Side where she dedicates her time as the National Spokesperson for One Step Ahead, an organization for amputees and as an Advisory Board Member of Cancer Schmancer/ Trash Cancer and for her work with the Live4Life Foundation.
THE OLDIES BUT I GUESS WE’RE STUCK WITH THEM GOODIES:
Sonja Morgan – Sonja continues to create controversy with her drunken antics and exhibitionist tendencies! She’ll continue to focus on living the fabulous jet-setting lifestyle and ignoring the negative. Sonja’s motto remains “to live each day as if you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
LuAnn de Lesseps – LuAnn is about to be an empty-nester this season, as her daughter Victoria heads off to college and her son focuses on opening a skateboard business. LuAnn will get her acting debut in shows such as “Royal Pains” and “Law & Order SUV.” She will also be starting her own lifestyle brand which will include jewelery, clothing, and home products. She continues to split her time between the Hamptons and NYC.
Ramona Singer – Ramona continues to focus on her various business ventures, including expanding her wine line to include reds (which she doesn’t drink because her blood runs with perfectly chilled Pinot). This year Ramona is focused on helping Avery in her junior year look at colleges. Ramona will try to edit herself and become more diplomatic. Sadly, we know that’s not possible – particularly once the libations get flowing! Oh, and she’ll be reprising Turtle Time for the 300 zillionth time.
