Someone at Time Magazine, who has way too much time on his or her hands, decided to run the tweets written by the 500 most followed celebrities through a reading comprehension test to determine the 50 Smartest Celebrities on Twitter. The test adds up the number of three-syllable words used in a tweet to calculate the education level required to understand it.
Time reported, the average Twitter user tweets at a 4th grade reading level.
Leonardo DiCaprio took the #1 spot with a 7.5 grade reading level. He tweets a lot about ocean conservation, so this is not surprising. Pattie Mallette, the woman who gave us Justin Bieber, ranked #2. My guess is that the three-syllable word âbeliebersâ helped her win this spot. Jenni âJWowwâ Farley was one of the highest ranking reality TV stars!

Jersey Shoreâs JWoww and The Voiceâs Usher tied for seventh place with a 6.6 grade reading level. Irony at its finest, she misread the chart and tweeted sheâs #8, but she is actually tied for #7.
Other reality TV stars, judges, hosts, etc. who made the list: #15, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie; #21, Kendall Jenner; #42, Jennifer Lopez, Giuliana Rancic, and Kelly Osbourne; and #49, Kelly Clarkson.

Time should have done their research and disqualified Kendall because of her inability to read a teleprompter at the Billboard Music Awards. Seriously, if she is one of the smartest celebrities on Twitter, I weep for our society. On the flip side, I was ecstatic to see Nicole and Kelly Clarkson on the list. I cannot get enough of Nicole Richieâs social media accounts!
