Shannon has bad news

Shannon Beador didn’t mean to ruin Brooks Ayers’ birthday dinner. But Vicki Gunvalson was on the war path as soon as Shannon insinuated Vicki’s (now ex) boyfriend’s less than stellar reputation was again under attack. So, ruin it she did. Shannon defends her motives in this week’s Real Housewives of Orange County blog, as well as explains her struggles disciplining her children – and living through Tamra Judge’s booty workout class!

Noting that this week was not her favorite episode, Shannon begins by reflecting on the mangled attempt she and husband David made at disciplining their toilet-papering twins. Upset more about Stella hurting her foot during the TP-ing incident than the incident itself Shannon explains that the twins “have become more defiant and it is completely understandable with what they have been through in the last year. That being said, it was important for David and I to come up with some sort of ‘consequence’…It was David’s idea to write a letter. I thought it was a bit harsh, but went along with it. I was not excited that David reminisced about his prior bouts with pumpkin smashing as a child, but that is the humorous side of my husband.”

Shannon does admit, “All in all, we didn’t do very well. The girls ended up writing a one page note to us about what they did wrong on the night of their sleepover, which included a few more important things than toilet papering!” Well, at least they tried to discipline their children, which is more than many reality TV parents can claim. Good for them!

As for the next naughty child in need of discipline, Meghan Edmonds continues to be a sore spot for Shannon. But Shannon still claims she has no vendetta against the newest RHOC housewife. “To be clear: I may be threatened by Meghan’s manipulations, but not by her as a person. Not going to give this one any more life.” #boom

Confessing to her lack of workout skills is no problem for Shannon, however! “What you learn about me at the Cut Fitness booty class…Yes, I can’t run because I had issues after childbirth! My first daughter was 9 pounds, 9 ½ ounces. Enough said! And I have balance issues—always have! So horrifying to watch myself struggling! This was a very hard class! Just wait until next week when you see how many of us can’t walk two days later!!!”

Moving on to the matter of Brooks and is maybe kinda sorta real cancer, Shannon insists, “I want the best for Brooks and his recovery. You can see that I am frustrated he didn’t take the time to meet with the doctor I referred, who mixes western and eastern medicine when treating cancer. Of course it’s his decision on which doctor to choose, I was just hoping he would explore all options when coming up with his treatment plan. His new proposed regimen sounds almost too good to be true, but I am hopeful for him that it will work.” Too good to be true? Yes. But what’s “truth” got to do with any of this!? <side eye>

Calling out the real pot stirrer in the group Shannon huffs, “I was floored Meghan brought up that a psychic said Brooks didn’t have cancer—right before I am on my way to celebrate his birthday. That to me is the ultimate pot stirring. Tamra and Heather [Dubrow] were present with the psychic so the only reason Meghan even brought it up was for me to find out. I think it is irresponsible to insinuate that someone doesn’t have an illness, especially cancer, based on a psychic reading. I am even more upset Meghan has put me in the position where I know this outrageous and hurtful information and am about to celebrate Brooks’ birthday.”

Noting that she was “sick to her stomach” at dinner with Brooks and Vicki later that night, Shannon says she simply couldn’t hold the secret in any longer. “I didn’t want to ruin the dinner, but I didn’t want Vicki to ever come back to me saying that as a friend, I should have warned her that something happened after the booty class,” claims Shannon.

Shannon maintains her innocence in bringing up the topic, citing, “I didn’t tell Vicki what Meghan said and I was extremely upset that she went back to the table and announced that something negative was said about Brooks. Dinner instantly ruined. Meghan put me in a no-win situation—keep horrendous information a secret from my good friend or destroy the night.”

Closing her blog with a shout out to the doctor she’d originally referred Brooks to, Shannon also alludes to the fact that the questionable state of Brooks’ cancer diagnosis is far from over, stating that “it continues next week.” And for many, many weeks to come, I presume.
