It must feel nice for Ashley Darby to no longer feel like the “new girl” in the Real Housewives of Potomac clique, after she was given such a hard time last year. Still, this doesn’t seem like it’s going to be the easiest season for her thanks to the Australian restaurant she opened with her husband.
Apparently, Ashley hasn’t watched other Real Housewives shows because opening a restaurant has always served as a difficult story line. Lisa Vanderpump is the only exception here, but she’s had decades of experience and owns multiple restaurants. On top of being a tough business in general, the Australian menu seems to be a tough sell in the United States. That and the almost three decade age difference between Ashley and her husband Michael Darby foreshadow difficult times to come.

Ashley opened up about her difficulties with the restaurant, her comments about her husband, her impression of new cast member Monique Samuels, and more in her second Bravo blog of the season.
I always have mixed feelings when the Housewives talk about their marriage problems on the show. I applaud them for keeping it one hundred, but I also can’t help feeling bad that they (and their husbands) have to watch it back months later. As if having problems in a relationship wasn’t tough enough. It has to be worse when those issues are up for public consumption and scrutiny.
Last episode, Ashley admitted that she felt “judged” by her husband Michael.
“That was very hard to watch because I had a flashback to how I felt right at that moment,” said Ashley. “The foundation of a loving couple was meant to trump the dollar bills, but Michael and I blurred the lines when we decided to open an exceptionally risky business together. Now we don’t only have the regular pressures of marriage, we have a 29 year age gap and a substantial investment in a restaurant. We are still working on this, so I realize that it wasn’t judgment rather us not understanding each other’s expectations in this venture. It’s still a constant battle.”
On a lighter note, at least Ashley is getting along with someone on the show (even if it is not her own husband at this moment). She said that she “clicked” with Monique and that they are “kindred spirits.”

Okay – back to the drama. Ashley was surprised to see Gizelle Bryant apologize to Charrisse Jackson-Jordan. “I hope the Devil knows how to ice skate because Gizelle Bryant has officially apologized after swearing up and down that Charrisse had nothing coming.” I too was shocked by that move.
And on another note, I don’t get why Ashley said, “Charrisse has a big heart and is very forgiving, so I am optimistic there’s a pot of gold waiting for these two at the end of the rainbow.” I do not foresee a pot of gold waiting for Gizelle and Charrisse.
One person who doesn’t want peace within in the clique is Karen Huger, who decided to stir shit up by throwing Robyn Dixon under the bus for her opinions on the Gizelle vs. Charrisse feud. Personally, I don’t feel like Robyn did anything wrong. It doesn’t even seem like Charrisse and Gizelle are offended by Robyn’s opinions, so I don’t get why Karen is trying to make everything worse. But then again, it does distract us from Karen’s shady financial situation.
Ashley said, “Robyn has been very open with how she feels about Gizelle’s actions. I think it shows the nature of their friendship that she voiced concern. Fake friends brush it all under the rug and look the other way, but your true blues will call you out when you’ve dropped your marbles.” Agreed. Robyn was just keeping it real.
She continued, “At the same time, the Grand Dame knew what she was doing when she stepped down from her pedestal to stir up dust with the peasants! I guess empty-nesting has left her restless and she hasn’t found knitting yet, but the last time I checked Karen preached about not being petty for pretty’s sake. Here we are in a time of peace after so much drama in the group, and Karen had to open Pandora’s box – can’t we just enjoy the sound of quiet before the bombs go off again? Apparently not.” Nope. Karen needs these paychecks so she can continue renting.
