Earlier this week Jenelle Evans‘ unhinged husband David Eason went on a twitter rampage and made homophobic and transphobic statements, including comparing transgendered people to dogs and blaming ‘bad parenting’ for causing homosexuality. David critiquing anyone’s parenting is awful enough…
David immediately received backlash for his statements from both fans and Jenelle’s Teen Mom 2 co-stars. Despite the reaction, Jenelle mistakenly assumed the whole thing would blow-over quickly and the show would go on. Fortunately not! Yesterday MTV announced they are ending their relationship with David “immediately.”
“Official statement from @MTVPress: David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV. With six weeks left of production on ‘Teen Mom 2,’ effective immediately, we are ending our relationship with him,” the network tweeted.
Jenelle attempted damage control by insisting it was all a misunderstanding when David tweeted that gay people don’t have morals and aren’t “normal,” because “David doesn’t hate people from the LGBT community.”
“David didn’t understand how offensive people would get or how Twitter even works,” Jenelle told TMZ. “Now that he realizes his voice is very strong within media/tabloids he has deactivated his account. He agrees he will keep his comments to himself from now on.” The only thing strong is the delusion. And hypocrisy.
“My old manager was gay and used to be one of me and David’s close friends,” Jenelle continued. “We attended Farrah’s birthday in Miami with a lot of LGBT people there and he didn’t act in any type of way. We went had a good time and left.”
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup adds that network executives met in a closed-door meeting to discuss Jenelle and David’s fate, but it’s “unlikely they’ll fire” Jenelle over David’s behavior. I can’t imagine what Jenelle’s storyline will be without David involved, but I’m sure she’ll think of something! Maybe lots of shots of staring off into the distance on The Land?
Neither Jenelle or David have publicly reacted to his firing yet, and they’ve both deactivated their twitter accounts. I’m actually shocked the network went through with it given how much drama David consistently brings!
TELL US – DID MTV MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION IN FIRING DAVID?
