Just like many Housewives who have come before her (and those who are sure to follow in her footsteps), Karen Huger has some questionable finances. She gave herself the honorary title of being the Grand Dame of Potomac. She secretly moved from Potomac to a cheaper property in a nearby town. Then there were reports that her husband Ray Huger owed more than $3 million.
For the average person, this just sounds like a lot of bad news, but on the bright side, the financial woes helped Karen secure her spot as a full-time cast member for Season 3.
In an interview with People, Karen said that the report that her husband was $3 million in debt was “true to an extent.” Of course, she didn’t truly clarify the situation because she wants us to tune in for Season 3, but she did say, “The good news is we’re great.”
She and Ray may be great, but her financial issues also caused a rift between Karen and Robyn Dixon. In an interview with AOL Entertainment, she discussed a conversation that they had. Spoiler alert: Robyn pulled a Sheree Whitfield and carried that bone to the group immediately.
Karen shared, “She’s my friend. We may not agree on everything, but I knew I could trust her. She was instrumental and said some very positive things, and she was there for me. No matter what comes of this, I appreciate that. But when she went and told all the girls at the party the next day, I felt betrayed.” Discussing Karen’s financial problems takes up the time that could be spent dissecting Robyn’s non-relationship/relationship situation. Of course she told everyone.
The self-proclaimed Grand Dame continued, “I had said to Robyn that I didn’t know [about Ray owing money], and she went and repeated that. And that started the whole thing with the ‘L’ word, which is so dangerous. If you turn the mirror on yourself, they’ll see that they’re the liars because they are making up my journey. You can’t push that down America’s throat! What you’re wishing for or hoping for my end will actually be my beginning.”
Is Karen lying or does she just have delusions of grandeur? It will be interesting to see how this all plays out… or at least I hope that it’s interesting. Whether Season 3 is interesting or not, I’ll still be tuning in, but I’m hoping for the former.
