90 Day Fiance The Other Way Star Deavan Clegg Contemplated Suicide

Based on her social media posts, there are two key takeaways from Deavan Clegg’s life after filming wrapped for 90 Day Fiance The Other Way.  The first is that Deavan is happy in a new relationship with Topher Park.  The second is that she and Jihoon Lee had a much more tumultuous relationship than what was shown on screen.  One that included alleged abuse of Deavan’s daughter Drascilla.

Deavan moved to South Korea for her second season on the show.  Living in a foreign country was a lot more stressful than just navigating culture shocks and living with man that she was unable to communicate with.  According to Deavan, she was treated as a “puppet” by the show management.  In a recent social media post, Deavan revealed that this mistreatment led her to contemplate taking her own life.

“The past two years have been the hardest I’ve ever experienced in my life. My life is forever changed by this show,” Deavan shared on an Instagram post, “some good some bad.”

Deavan did have support from the film crew, who she thanked and made sure to differentiate from management at Sharp.

Deavan continued, “I want to personally thank the Korean film crew who was apart from sharp.  Amazing kind and loyal. Who knew the bad and held my hand through it.”

Reality TV maneuvers cast members into situations, and editing is not always favorable or honest.  But Deavan accuses the industry of going too far in its manipulation.

Deavan revealed, “this experience has taught me so much.. although grateful for the opportunities this show has brought.  The greater lesson I’ve learned is how evil some people can be. The truth of reality is dark and evil. Fake scenarios taken from real life to ruin many peoples lives. My heart goes out to the many people who have taken their lives this year due to reality tv going to far. I hope this recent season has taught sharp a lesson. There was a lot cut the second half of the season.  A lot of over the line things bringing many of the cast members to almost take their lives.  Me being one of them.”

Deavan put a lot of stock into the footage that was cut from airing.  What did it show?  Whatever it was, Deavan seems to imply that it would have vindicated her, or been to her advantage that the material aired.  But she plans to post a clip in which she shared her thoughts about being on the show.

“I will post the video TLC showed in the trailer the video was my goodbye,” she wrote, “this experience took me to a dark place I never want to revisit.”

But there is a silver lining.  Deavan found support in friends and alums of the show, as well as reality TV blogger John Yates.  She also hopes her story can change the industry.

“But I also met amazing people in Korea who helped me through this time,” she wrote, “I hope future cast members are treated fairly and not as money bags or other puppets. I also want to thank Tiffany Franco Smith for being my friend and supporting me during this hard journey.  As well as @johnyates327tv for being my shoulder to cry on.”
