Real Housewives of Orange County reunion Gina Kirschenheiter

Gina Kirschenheiter’s Restraining Order Against Ex-Husband Has Been Dismissed For Their Kids’ “Best Interests”

Gina Kirschenheiter has had a difficult few years. First, we all witnessed Gina defend her husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, for not being present – at all – during her first season of Real Housewives of Orange County. After the season ended, it appeared her and Matt were working on their relationship. But in June 2019, Matt was arrested for domestic violence. Soon after, Gina filed a restraining order against him.

Later that year, Gina and Matt finalized their divorce, and Gina kept the restraining order. By 2020 however, Matt was showing his face on RHOC, and things appeared cordial between the former couple. Now, it looks likes things have only gotten better for Gina’s family.

According to an exclusive in Us Weekly, Gina has “asked the court to dismiss her restraining order against” Matt. More importantly, “during a virtual hearing on Wednesday, June 9, a judge approved Matt and Gina’s stipulation to the court that they have reached an agreement concerning child custody and the temporary domestic violence restraining order… previously filed against Matt.” Matt was at the hearing, but Gina’s wasn’t. Instead, Graham Kirkman, Gina’s attorney, went on her behalf.

Gina’s lawyer said, “the agreement they’ve reached today is in the best interest of their kids.” He also said he thinks the kids were at the center of both Matt and Gina’s concerns. “I can certainly speak for Gina, that that’s the primary concern for her, and this is going to let them — the parties and their children – move forward.”

The outlet also reported that “the basis for the dismissal (of the restraining order)” is that “their children are in a really good place right now, and the parties are healthily co-parenting, and that is to their kids’ benefit.” This sounds like a great turn of events for both Gina and Matt, who have also each moved on to other partners.

Gina’s lawyer also shared that this dismissal, “allows the parties maximum flexibility to try to do what works best for each of them and for their kids.” So, it seems like they’re making strides to make their family as happy as can be. Good for them! Now, let’s see if any of this will air on RHOC. Or if Gina and any other Housewives from last season are even returning.
