Denise Richards shocked fans by announcing that she was joining OnlyFans just days after her daughter, Sami Sheen, joined the NSFW site. But don’t expect the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star to bow down to criticism. From the day that Sami joined, Denise has been her biggest supporter.
Now she’s opening up about her own decision to join. As reported by E! News, Denise recently spoke with KTLA about the backlash both she and Sami received. Denise stated, “My daughter got a lot of backlash for opening the account. I had heard of OnlyFans but I wasn’t educated on what OnlyFans was and once I started to learn about it, I really think that the creators of the site really took the best of every platform of social media and put it into one site. You own your content. The other sites, they can sell your content.”
Denise continued about the platform, “We all post pictures with ourselves with bathing suits on Instagram and some of the other sites that there’s no difference other than you actually own the content.” Denise announced her decision to join OnlyFans via her Instagram account on June 23. She posted the link in her bio for her 1.4 million followers. If you want to subscribe to her content, she charges $25/month or $67.50 for three months.
While Denise faced considerably less criticism than Sami, who is 18 years-old, she still had to contend with ex-husband Charlie Sheen over the matter. Charlie originally wasn’t happy about Sami’s choice and made a statement that blamed Denise. He remarked, “I do not condone this, but since I’m unable to prevent it, I’ve urged her to keep it classy, creative and not sacrifice her integrity. She is 18 years old now and living with her mother. This did not occur under my roof.”
But Denise pointed out that Sami is an adult and can make her own decisions. She shared, “This decision wasn’t based on whose house she lives in. All I can do as a parent is guide her and trust her judgment, but she makes her own choices.”
Ultimately, Denise’s support and pragmatic attitude changed Charlie’s mind. A few days later he issued another statement saying that Denise “has illuminated a variety of salient points, that in my haste, I overlooked and dismissed.” He added, “Now more than ever, it’s essential that Sami have a united parental front to rely upon, as she embarks on this new adventure. From this moment forward, she’ll have it abundantly.”
