Brynn Whitfield Discusses Her Egg Freezing Decision and Co-Stars’ Criticisms

Real Housewives of New York breakout star Brynn Whitfield has made her feelings about motherhood well-known to co-stars. The reality TV star decidedly wants to be a mother. And since it hasn’t come to fruition the old-fashioned way, Brynn decided that freezing her eggs was the way to go.

During episode 9 of the rebooted Season 14, Brynn spoke to her cast mates about her going to an egg-freezing consultation. She described searching for sperm donors online. Unfortunately, her joking demeanor wasn’t received in the way she would have wanted and resulted in Erin Lichy accusing Brynn of sharing a “weird lie.”

Despite the joking, it’s a very emotional topic for Brynn, who told the RHONY cast, “I want someone who wants a family. I want to be a mom.” But that was during filming. What’s going on now with Brynn’s family planning?

Freezing her eggs wasn’t Brynn’s “plan to have to do”

Women’s Health got the exclusive scoop from Brynn herself. She told the publication that her decisions were not based on whims.

“I’ve been thinking about it for the past two years,” Brynn revealed.

Circumstances left Brynn in the situation of contemplating motherhood as a single woman in her mid-thirties. Though, it wouldn’t be her preference.

Brynn explained, “It’s like this realization of like—I know this sounds probably stupid—but like, ‘F*ck, I have to do this.’ And every time I have this thing of like, ‘I can’t believe I have to do this. This wasn’t my plan to have to do it.'”

“It becomes very real that I don’t have a child yet,” she added.

Brynn relied on her humor to help her deal with the situation. So as she joked about the egg-freezing appointment to her RHONY co-stars, she acknowledged that humor lets her, “kind of hide the fact that, like, I’m in pain over this.”

“When I’m telling the story to the girls, I’m diluting all of that into my typical Brynn way of doing things,” Brynn explained. “And instead of just being vulnerable and crying that it upset me, I’m trying to make it funny.”

Just to give an example, Brynn joked, “If I could put the chicken costume on and just go in and lay some eggs and toss them in my freezer next to my ice cream I’d do it. But there’s so much more involved.”

However, decisions have been made. Brynn will be freezing her eggs off-season in December 2023 or January 2024 “schedule permitting.” She explained that the fees at her friend’s Swiss clinic are more affordable at that time of year.

“I’ll try to, like, stay awake while the anesthesiologist is putting me to [sleep], I’ll be like, ‘Can’t put redheads down!’ I’ll be good,” Brynn concluded.
