Teresa Giudice Admits Staging Prison Release Photo: ‘Might as Well Make Money’

Teresa Giudice is a very lucky woman. Not many people with a criminal history are as fortunate as the Real Housewives of New Jersey star. If you are a former felon, convict, or resident of a penitentiary, sometimes it’s hard to get a job after doing time, thankfully Tre was able to continue RHONJ after her prison stint.

Those with mugshots are loved by at least two employers, Bravo and the United States government, so Teresa basically went right back to work after being released from jail. And earning money started immediately after becoming a free woman, beginning with her first photo. She talked about the staged pic on an episode of the Hollywood Raw Podcast.

She did what she had to do …

As you probably know, in 2014, Tre spent some time in prison after being convicted of bank, mail, wire, bankruptcy, and tax fraud. Recently Teresa started speaking on her eleven months at “camp.” By her account, it was almost a resort-like experience complete with scenic views and a five-star menu.

On December 23, 2015, Tre was released and at 5 am, she made her first sale as a civilian. According to the mom of four, it’s the only time she ever made a deal with the paps – and to that I say, sure, Jan. “The only time [I made a deal with paparazzi was] when I got out of jail,” Tre said.

While that may or may not be accurate, she did the right thing. If they want it, they can pay for it – and not for nothing, she needed the money. “They wanted the first photo and I did it. I was like, ‘If they’re going to get it anyway, I might as well make money off of it.’”

People got the shots and she coordinated an agreement with them for some cashola. Teresa didn’t reveal how much she got paid, but that’s also none of our business. Joe Giudice went in shortly after Teresa was released, but no one really wanted his photograph.

The aftermath of jail

Despite the vacation-level ambiance in the slammer, Tre wasn’t happy with Joe because she blamed him for her part in their crimes. Additionally, her mom passed away soon after she came out and she blamed Juicy for that too. “I came home, I lost my mom eight months later. And then my dad moved in with us and he was so upset,” she noted.

It “took a long time” for her to “forgive” Joe but she could have also, you know, not participated in multiple crimes.

Currently, Tre is only speaking to about three people on the RHONJ cast. Season 14 will air on Bravo later in 2024.
